Racing Incident Report
When leaving the Parade Ring, HAPPY CENTENARY became fractious, resulting in its rider, N Pinna, being dislodged. On arrival at the Start, HAPPY CENTENARY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
MEDIC KINGDOM began only fairly and had to be ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position.
WINNING BOY and VERDANE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FLORAL MAN did not show early speed and consequently raced back in the field.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, LORD DRAGON was steadied away from the heels of FLAME HERO which shifted out marginally away from MEDIC KINGDOM which got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of QUEEN’S WHISTLE.
Passing the 1000 Metres, QUEEN’S WHISTLE became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in K-MOOCHI being momentarily crowded for room.
Near the 400 Metres, HAPPY CENTENARY shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of LORD DRAGON. A short distance later, LORD DRAGON, when unbalanced, shifted in slightly, resulting in HAPPY CENTENARY, which was racing greenly and giving ground, being crowded for room between that horse and FLAME HERO which was taken out marginally by CITY POWER.
Both WINNING BOY and TRAVEL SMART had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
K-MOOCHI was unable to obtain clear running until near the 300 Metres.
Passing the 300 Metres, HAPPY CENTENARY shifted out away from FLYING IN, resulting in VERDANE being taken wider.
Throughout the race, CITY POWER travelled wide and without cover.
FLAME HERO and FLORAL MAN were sent for sampling.
