Racing Incident Report
SAME WORLD was slow to begin.
ASHKIYR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
In the Straight, DOMINANT hung in.
M Demuro (BLAZING SPEED) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SAME WORLD which as a result was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. When SAME WORLD was checked, it shifted in and bumped AKEED MOFEED which became unbalanced. M Demuro was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 13 March 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Sunday, 2 March 2014 on which day Jockey Demuro was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 12 February 2014.
When questioned regarding the performance of AKEED MOFEED, D Whyte stated that his mount became badly unbalanced when heavily bumped by SAME WORLD near the 1800 Metres. He said after this AKEED MOFEED over-raced and it was not until about the 1400 Metres when the horse commenced to travel more comfortably. He said after the 900 Metres he had to ride his mount along as it appeared as though MILITARY ATTACK was endeavouring to shift out and he did not want to be taken unnecessarily wide by that horse. He added after having to come off the bridle, he rode his mount along, however, AKEED MOFEED then did not respond well and he was unable to prevent MILITARY ATTACK from shifting out rounding the Home Turn. He said in the Straight AKEED MOFEED did not quicken and only stayed on one-paced in the run to the finishing line. A veterinary inspection of AKEED MOFEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AKEED MOFEED, MILITARY ATTACK and DAN EXCEL were sent for sampling.
