Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed when GOOD FIT lost its right front plate just prior to horses being loaded into the barriers. After being replated, GOOD FIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
LOVE CHUNGHWA and NOTED PERFORMER were crowded for room on jumping between HURRICANE KID which shifted in and HONG KONG CAPTAIN which shifted out after being bumped by FIVE STARS AGENT which began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, TOP ACE, GOLD DRAGON and THE FULL BLOOM were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1200 Metres, BEST TANGO was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 250 Metres, NOTED PERFORMER was shifted away from the heels of FIVE STARS AGENT which was giving ground.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FIVE STARS AGENT, Apprentice K K Chiong stated that although her mount was inclined to travel keenly in the middle stages, it travelled similarly at its most recent start when successful, so this did not concern her. She said when BEST TANGO improved around FIVE STARS AGENT rounding the Home Turn, FIVE STARS AGENT immediately came under pressure and then, despite being ridden out, weakened noticeably in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of FIVE STARS AGENT immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a small wound to the outside of the left hind cannon. The performance of FIVE STARS AGENT, a favourite for today’s race and also a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FIVE STARS AGENT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of HURRICANE KID immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FIVE STARS AGENT, GOOD FIT and TOP ACE were sent for sampling.
