9 N090  SPICY SIAM  05/05/2013  584  SPICY SIAM (N090) when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider stated that, as usual, his mount did not show any early speed despite being ridden along. That did not concern him as it had previously shown the same inclination in its races. It travelled well until approaching the 500M at which time it was not able to sprint when the pace of the race quickened. Because of that he was not able to maintain the position behind the eventual winner. He said as his mount is one-paced, that did not concern him at the time as he thought it would slowly work into the race. However it did not quicken at any stage in the Straight. Near the 200M it got its head on the side, however, it had also shown this tendency previously in its races. It was very disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding in the Straight. After the race Trainer reported in light of the poor performance, he would consider adding a tongue tie to the horse's gear in the future - Race 584.

12 M377  SMART GUY  05/05/2013  584  SMART GUY (M377) finished 2nd and was objected by the 3rd placegetter alleging interference at the 150M. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the videos, the Stewards found that near the 150M the horse shifted in under pressure and bumped the 3rd placegetter, causing both horses to become unbalanced. It was further established that passing the 100M and again approaching the 50M the horse again shifted in, resulting in the 3rd placegetter becoming unbalanced and racing in restricted room outside the eventual winner. Because of that, the 3rd placegetter was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages. Having in mind the short head margin between the horses at the end of the race and the proximity of the incidents to the finishing line, the Stewards were comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred that the 3rd placegetter would have finished in front of the horse. Accordingly, the objection was sustained and the horse was relegated to 3rd place - Race 584.
