Racing Incident Report

DR RACE was withdrawn on 6.2.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SHALLUCK (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, DR RACE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY JOURNEY shifted in abruptly at the start, resulting in HERO TIME being hampered.
CONFUCIUS SPIRIT shifted out at the start and bumped HAPPY BAO BEI which in turn shifted out and bumped FORMULA GALORE.
GOUTEN OF GARO and SHALLUCK bumped at the start. After this, from wide barriers, GOUTEN OF GARO and SHALLUCK were shifted across behind runners.
Also from the outside barrier, TRIUMPHAL WIN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the first turn, SHARPMIND (U Rispoli), which was being eased to obtain a trailing position, was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY BAO BEI (N Rawiller) which, after initially getting its head on the side and shifting in away from FORMULA GALORE, then shifted in further. N Rawiller was advised that whilst the Stewards acknowledged that HAPPY BAO BEI was initially shifting in of its own accord and that Jockey Rispoli was steadying his mount at this time, nonetheless he was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners. When SHARPMIND lost ground in this incident, FUNNY BUDDIES, which was following, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Near the 800 Metres, HAPPY JOURNEY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY BAO BEI. FUNNY BUDDIES, which was following, was awkwardly placed behind HAPPY JOURNEY in consequence.
Rounding the Home Turn, FUNNY BUDDIES got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HAPPY JOURNEY.
At the entrance to the Straight, HAPPY BAO BEI was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORMULA GALORE when racing tight inside GLORIOUS PARTNERS.
FUNNY BUDDIES was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until near the 150 Metres at which time the horse was shifted in abruptly away from the heels of GLORIOUS PARTNERS and to the inside of HAPPY BAO BEI to obtain clear running.
Near the 100 Metres, GLORIOUS PARTNERS shifted out and brushed HAPPY JOURNEY. Then over the concluding stages, HAPPY JOURNEY got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in GLORIOUS PARTNERS racing tight inside HAPPY JOURNEY.
Close to the finishing line, CONFUCIUS SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOUTEN OF GARO.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that he was asked to position HERO TIME where it was comfortable from the inside barrier. He said after being placed in the barriers HERO TIME was very fractious and reared, resulting in him almost being dislodged. He said as the start was effected HERO TIME was standing awkwardly which resulted in the horse beginning only fairly. He said HERO TIME was then hampered due to HAPPY JOURNEY shifting in which resulted in the horse losing ground. He said after this HERO TIME was reluctant to improve its position despite being ridden along and then making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, although it was available to him to maintain a position inside CONFUCIUS SPIRIT, HERO TIME was reluctant to remain in this position and lost ground of its own accord. He said for this reason shortly after entering the Back Straight he shifted HERO TIME away from the rail in an endeavour to have the horse race more truly. He added he had to ride his mount along in the Back Straight in an endeavour to have it maintain its position as the horse was still reluctant to be racing amongst other horses. He said rounding the Home Turn he shifted HERO TIME to the outside of runners and although reluctant to stretch out fully, HERO TIME still finished off the race well.
SHARPMIND and FUNNY BUDDIES were sent for sampling.
