2 2 HAILTOTHEVICTORS (J508) Jumped only fairly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 10 PHANTOM CYCLONE (J271) Was left racing very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.
4 7 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) After being crossed by SMART TRIO leaving the 800 Metres raced keenly for some distance thereafter.
5 6 ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066) Bumped at the start. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
6 13 GO GO GO (H196) No report.
7 9 COSMO LIGHT (J379) No report.
8 1 COURIER MAGIC (H290) Z Purton stated that approaching the first turn COURIER MAGIC got its head up and commenced to race fiercely. He said for some distance thereafter COURIER MAGIC was checked to avoid runners in front and as a result became badly unbalanced and shifted out abruptly approaching the 1300 Metres. He added that he was also concerned with his mount’s action. Trainer K L Man stated that, in his view, the blinkers being reapplied to the horse caused it to race fiercely. He added that he had been pleased with COURIER MAGIC leading into today’s race and had expected it to run well. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of COURIER MAGIC were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, COURIER MAGIC will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial from an inside barrier in amongst other horses and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
9 11 BINGO BABE (K115) Bumped at the start. Near the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid MEEPMEEP.
10 8 SMART TRIO (J538) No report.
11 5 TURF PHOENIX (J294) Shortly after the start was bumped by SUPER PACE which lay out. In the early stages raced keenly.
12 3 MEEPMEEP (H234) Jumped awkwardly. Near the 1300 Metres was checked to avoid COURIER MAGIC when that runner shifted out abruptly. J McDonald stated that after settling back in the field his mount was disappointing in its failure to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
13 12 EURO ROCKS (H153) Bumped shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 800 Metres was steadied when crowded between ATOMIC BEAUTY and BEAUTY MISSILE which shifted out after being crossed by SMART TRIO. H Bentley could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
14 4 SUPER PACE (K349) Lay out shortly after the start and made contact with TURF PHOENIX. Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to go forward. He said despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to do so. He said after being crossed by TURF PHOENIX in the early stages SUPER PACE raced keenly and did not settle for some distance thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
