Racing Incident Report
MY BEST CHOICE was withdrawn on 28.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter REAL SPECIALIST. Before being allowed to race again, MY BEST CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHINA GOOD knuckled over at the start. OWAIN was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of MR SPEEDY. From wide barriers, FIRST CLASS, FULL HOUSE and STAR OF FAME were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, HARSH BROWN was steadied away from the heels of WIND DAMPER which shifted in. After the 1000 Metres, HAPPY YEAH YEAH was steadied away from the heels of WIND DAMPER (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear. O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care. Making the first turn near the 800 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY YEAH YEAH. Passing the 800 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT was momentarily crowded for room between REAL SPECIALIST and CHINA GOOD which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HARSH BROWN. At the same point, STAR OF FAME got its head up when racing close to the heels of MR SPEEDY. A short distance later, CAGA SPIRIT got its head up when again momentarily tightened between CHINA GOOD and REAL SPECIALIST which shifted out slightly. Passing the 200 Metres, ASMODAI, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY YEAH YEAH which was taken in by HARSH BROWN (Apprentice K C Leung) which shifted ground when hanging in. Apprentice Leung was reprimanded and cautioned against using the whip in these circumstances. A short distance later, HAPPY YEAH YEAH was steadied away from the heels of HARSH BROWN which continued to hang in. Passing the 100 Metres, CAGA SPIRIT was steadied away from the heels of STAR OF FAME which shifted in under pressure. After the race, B Doyle (CHINA GOOD) reported that the horse travelled satisfactorily until straightening, however, after this came under pressure and, in his opinion, was not comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of CHINA GOOD after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHINA GOOD was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHINA GOOD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIND DAMPER, REAL SPECIALIST and HARSH BROWN were sent for sampling.
