Racing Incident Report
At the time of declaration, T Berry was declared as the rider of FORTUNE PATROL, trained by Mr P O’Sullivan when GO BEAUTY GO, trained by Jockey Berry’s retaining trainer, Mr J Moore, was to be ridden by M Chadwick, a non-claiming freelance jockey. As T Berry was unable to accept an engagement outside of his retaining stable in these circumstances, the Stewards permitted S Clipperton to be substituted as the rider of FORTUNE PATROL and T Berry to be rider of GO BEAUTY GO. After hearing submissions from Mr O’Sullivan and Jockey Berry, Mr O’Sullivan acknowledged that he had erred in arranging for T Berry to ride FORTUNE PATROL and was subsequently fined the sum of $2,000.
BIGWOOD was withdrawn on 28.12.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind). Before being allowed to race again, BIGWOOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HEALTHY JOYFUL shifted out at the start and hampered FEARLESS FIRE.
From a wide barrier, LADY FIRST was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, FLYING QUEST was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HEALTHY JOYFUL and was directed out away from that horse. After this, FLYING QUEST travelled wide and without cover.
After the 800 Metres, REGENCY BO BO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CONTE.
Near the 750 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FEARLESS FIRE.
FORTUNE PATROL had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Approaching the 300 Metres, GO BEAUTY GO shifted out under pressure and brushed CONTE.
Throughout the race, A BEAUTIFUL travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of MAGIC POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MAGIC POWER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SIXTY SIXTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CONTE and HEALTHY JOYFUL were sent for sampling.
