Racing Incident Report

BO DUKE began awkwardly.
HAR HAR HEART shifted out at the start and bumped MEGA TREASURE. MEGA TREASURE then got its head up shortly after the start when being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier.
Also from wide barriers, HAR HAR HEART and SUPER CLAN were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1400 Metres, GOLDEN SLEEP, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. C Y Ho was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. DARING HEART, which was following GOLDEN SLEEP, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence and lay in, resulting in HAR HAR HEART being crowded for room. After this incident, GOLDEN SLEEP commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY. Then passing the 1200 Metres, when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY, GOLDEN SLEEP shifted out marginally, resulting in DARING HEART improving its position to be racing tight inside GOLDEN SLEEP. After the 1200 Metres, DARING HEART was steadied when GOLDEN SLEEP shifted back in marginally.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, BO DUKE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HAPPY AND HEALTHY.
For a considerable distance after the 1100 Metres, GOLDEN SLEEP continued to prove very difficult to settle and passing the 900 Metres shifted out and away from the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY when unable to remain racing behind that horse due to travelling too keenly. After this, GOLDEN SLEEP raced wide and without cover.
Passing the 600 Metres, WIN FOR CHARITY shifted in marginally and bumped NEVER BETTER, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
For some distance approaching the 100 Metres, HAR HAR HEART (M Chadwick) was awkwardly placed behind MONEY WINNER (K C Ng) when attempting to improve to the outside of that horse which drifted out under pressure. Then passing the 100 Metres, HAR HAR HEART was steadied when disappointed for running between MONEY WINNER and WIN FOR CHARITY. K C Ng was advised that whilst the Stewards were satisfied that at no time did HAR HAR HEART establish running to the outside of MONEY WINNER, nonetheless in similar circumstances he would be expected to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. After being disappointed for running, HAR HAR HEART was directed out away from the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY which was shifting out, resulting in GOLDEN SLEEP being steadied. M Chadwick was advised that whist the Stewards accepted that he was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN FOR CHARITY, nonetheless he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear when attempting runs in similar circumstances.
When changing his whip from his left hand into his right hand, M L Yeung’s (MEGA TREASURE) whip momentarily became entangled in the reins which resulted in M L Yeung dropping his right rein near the 150 Metres. M L Yeung was unable to regather the use of this rein for the remainder of the race.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN SLEEP and OCULIST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DARING HEART, WIN FOR CHARITY and MONEY WINNER were sent for sampling.
