Racing Incident Report
STILTON began awkwardly and lost ground. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, UNIQUE SPEED became unbalanced and bumped the running rail when awkwardly placed inside STILTON which got its head up and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of MONEY MAN. Shortly after this incident, DARE TO WIN became unbalanced when close to the heels of STILTON. At the 500 Metres, WONDERFUL WORLD and DARE TO WIN steadied away from the heels of the runners in front. Over the concluding stages, STILTON hung in and at the winning post was steadied when awkwardly placed between MONEY MAN and BUTTERFIELD which at this time drifted in. E Saint-Martin (INSPIRATION) was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's poor performance. He said he had ridden INSPIRATION in its track work leading into today's race and in his opinion this work had been good. He said he had been instructed to either lead or race outside the leader and accordingly he went forward in the early stages, near the 800 Metres was able to shift across to race outside WINNING FELLOWSHIP and when racing in this position, INSPIRATION travelled comfortably until near the 300 Metres. He said INSPIRATION gave the feel it would respond when asked for an effort, however, it failed to do so. INSPIRATION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of INSPIRATION after the race did not show any significant findings. BUTTERFIELD and MONEY MAN were sent for sampling.
