Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, from a wide barrier, TOWN OF DRAGON was steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the fence but at the rear. In the early stages, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP raced ungenerously with its head up. In the middle stages, DREAM HORSE hung out. At the 350 Metres, HAR HAR CHARMS was steadied away from the heels of DREAM HORSE which shifted ground. In the Straight, HAPPY ELITE hung in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned, S Dye (GALBRAITH) said the intention had been to have the horse in the first three. He said prior to the gates opening GALBRAITH was fractious and then did not begin cleanly. He said after this he immediately rode GALBRAITH along, but the horse failed to muster speed when racing tight outside MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP. He said he then allowed GALBRAITH to travel where he felt it was going to be comfortable. He said GALBRAITH raced greenly throughout, on a number of occasions shifted ground away from other runners and proved reluctant to hold its position. He said at the 600 Metres he endeavoured to shift to the outside of KIMBERLEY MINES, however, at that time PICKETT had improved to his outside which resulted in him being disappointed for running. He said in the Straight GALBRAITH finished the race off fairly. GALBRAITH was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, GALBRAITH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GALBRAITH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. INSPIRATION and BEAR MACHO were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported HAR HAR CHARMS had lost its right hind plate.
