Racing Incident Report
LONDON EXPRESS was withdrawn on 7.4.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right front fetlock). Before being allowed to race again, LONDON EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CELEBRATION was slow to begin. In the early stages, GOLD FIELD proved difficult to settle. In the early and middle stages, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND proved very difficult to settle and NATURAL NINE travelled wide and without cover. At the 1400 Metres, NASA PEARL was steadied away from the heels of EYE WITNESS. Near the 800 Metres, DR MORE was steadied when awkwardly placed between SEASONS KNACK and HAPPY CONTENDER. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND hung out, near the 200 Metres shifted ground. Because of this, B Prebble, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND then shifted in abruptly, obliging B Prebble to stop riding, straighten his mount and change the whip back into his right hand. In the run to the winning post, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND then shifted out abruptly. In the early part of the Straight, SEASONS KNACK had some difficulty obtaining clear running, after the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of SUPER DANA to go forward, then at the 100 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of COURAGEOUSHEART which shifted in. At the 200 Metres, GOLD FIELD was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between EYE WITNESS and TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND which shifted out. Close to the line, SEASONS KNACK was awkwardly placed near the heels of COURAGEOUSHEART which at this stage shifted out. Because of this, SEASONS KNACK was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied the riding of D Nikolic (GOLD FIELD), 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his responsibilities to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post where circumstances permit. Apprentice K T Yeung (ROYAL FALCON) explained from a wide barrier he was instructed to take the horse to a rearward position in an endeavour to find cover. He said in accordance with those instructions he took ROYAL FALCON back, however, at no stage was he able to obtain cover and as a consequence the horse proved difficult to settle. NATURAL NINE and TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND were sent for sampling.
