Racing Incident Report

SWEETIE BARLEY was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front tendon injury). Before being allowed to race again, SWEETIE BARLEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Shortly after the start, BEAUTY MASTER shifted out and inconvenienced E-SUPER. After this, E-SUPER continued to be awkwardly placed outside BEAUTY MASTER which lay out.
From the outside barriers, WAYFOONG VINNIE, RACING MATE and MOST BEAUTIFUL were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, OCULIST lost ground when momentarily crowded for room inside DIEGO KOSTA which was racing tight inside E-SUPER (T Berry) which shifted in. T Berry was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners on his inside in similar circumstances. RACING MATE, which was following, was checked away from the heels of OCULIST in consequence.
Making the turn after the 500 Metres, MR RIGHT got its head on the side and lay out.
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 350 Metres in which KEEP MOVING (N Callan) clipped the heels of BEAUTY MASTER (Apprentice M F Poon) and blundered. After taking evidence from both riders, the Stewards accepted Jockey Callan’s evidence that in the lead up to this incident, he did not pursue the run to the inside of BEAUTY MASTER as he intended to shift to that horse’s outside rounding the Home Turn. The Stewards further accepted that approaching the 350 Metres Jockey Callan directed KEEP MOVING out across the heels of BEAUTY MASTER which was being allowed to shift in by Apprentice Poon. The Stewards, in the circumstances, believed that the incident was attributable to both horses shifting ground, however, Apprentice Poon was advised that at this stage he was allowing his mount to drift in in the mistaken belief that he was fully clear of KEEP MOVING as that horse was being directed out. Apprentice Poon was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he is properly clear prior to shifting ground.
Passing the 200 Metres, WAYFOONG VINNIE was steadied when disappointed for running between THOR THE GREATEST and DIEGO KOSTA (J Moreira) which shifted in. WAYFOONG VINNIE was then directed to the outside of DIEGO KOSTA to continue improving. Whilst the Stewards were of the opinion that WAYFOONG VINNIE had not fully established running between DIEGO KOSTA and THOR THE GREATEST, nonetheless J Moreira was advised in similar circumstances to make every effort to prevent his mount from shifting ground.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of Apprentice Poon, the rider of the 4th placegetter, BEAUTY MASTER, which lay out under pressure in the Straight, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit.
A veterinary inspection of MR RIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KEEP MOVING and E-SUPER were sent for sampling.
