Racing Incident Report

FORTUNE WAY and LUCKY COIN were slow to begin and then shortly after the start were crowded for room between YOUNG DREAMER and THE FULL BLOOM, both of which shifted ground.
SUPREME WITNESS shifted out at the start and inconvenienced CHAPARRAL STAR.
From the outside barrier, TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
FORTUNE WAY lost its right front plate near the 1350 Metres.
Passing the 1000 Metres, LUCKY COIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE FULL BLOOM.
After the 1000 Metres, AUTOPAY commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when awkwardly placed behind SUPREME WITNESS. Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, AUTOPAY, which continued to race ungenerously, shifted out and bumped YOURTHEWONFORME. AUTOPAY then continued to race close to the heels of SUPREME WITNESS for some distance.
Near the 950 Metres, LUCKY COIN became unbalanced when racing close to the heels of CHAPARRAL STAR and tight inside NEWSWIRE FREE.
Approaching the 700 Metres, CHAPARRAL STAR and GOLDEN CANNON raced tight as CHAPARRAL STAR shifted out. This resulted in GOLDEN CANNON racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, as CHAPARRAL STAR was attempting to improve between GOLDEN CANNON and YOURTHEWONFORME, CHAPARRAL STAR raced tight between those runners as YOURTHEWONFORME shifted to the outside of GOLD TALENT. This resulted in GOLDEN CANNON being brushed and taken wider by CHAPARRAL STAR.
At the entrance to the Straight, SUPREME WITNESS shifted out and bumped GOLD TALENT.
S Clipperton (FORTUNE WAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET, causing that horse to be checked. S Clipperton was suspended from riding in races for a period incorporating the first two racemeetings of the 2018/2019 racing season. In addition, S Clipperton was fined $30,000.
Throughout the race, GOLD TALENT travelled wide and without cover.
Trainer D Cruz reported that he had instructed H N Wong to ride GOLD TALENT positively in the early stages from a wide barrier due to its light weight.
After the race, D Whyte stated that whilst AUTOPAY over-raced in the middle stages, nonetheless it was very disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of AUTOPAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, A Sanna (SCARBOROUGH FAIR) stated that after having to do some work to cross runners to his inside to race outside the leader, the horse travelled only fairly in the middle stages and then weakened after being placed under pressure in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SCARBOROUGH FAIR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The Veterinary Surgeon subsequently reported that the TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET had sustained a cut to the outside of the right front cannon.
THE FULL BLOOM and YOURTHEWONFORME were sent for sampling.
