Racing Incident Report

FORTUNE BOOTH was withdrawn on 10.7.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SEVEN HEAVENS (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE BOOTH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the Start, H N Wong expressed concern regarding the action of JUMBO LUCK. JUMBO LUCK was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.
ROYAL PRINCE began very awkwardly and lost ground.
From the outside barrier, ARCHIPPUS was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
JUMBO LUCK began awkwardly.
SOLOMON’S BAY began only fairly and then was steadied away from the heels of GUNNISON which shifted out.
After initially being ridden along, SUNNY WIN was shifted across behind runners after failing to muster speed.
JUMBO LUCK travelled wide and without cover until passing the 600 Metres at which time E-SUPER was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER TURBO was shifted to the inside of E-SUPER to obtain clear running.
At the time of declaration, C Schofield notified as being probable 2 lb overweight in respect of ROYAL PRINCE’s allocated weight of 114 lbs. C Schofield weighed out 2 lbs overweight in accordance with this notification, however, on return to scale was found to have weighed in at 118 lbs. As C Schofield weighed in 2 lbs over the weight notified at the time of declaration and as this was the 4th occasion he had been penalized for a similar offence during this season, he was fined the sum of $10,000.
A veterinary inspection of SEVEN HEAVENS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SOLOMON’S BAY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SOLOMON’S BAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SOLOMON’S BAY, SUPER TURBO and GUNNISON were sent for sampling.
