Racing Incident Report
THE JUDGE began only fairly.
Shortly after the start, SMART BOY raced tight inside JADE THEATRE which shifted in marginally.
From the outside barriers, MONICA and SIR REDALOT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, SHANGHAI MASTER was crowded for room between BEAUTY LOYAL and STAR OF JOY (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted in. In this incident, BEAUTY LOYAL became unbalanced after receiving contact on the hindquarters from SHANGHAI MASTER. Apprentice Mo was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners before shifting ground.
BEAUTY LOYAL lost its left hind plate near the 700 Metres.
Passing the 700 Metres, SHANGHAI MASTER was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 550 Metres, JADE THEATRE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPEEDY KING.
Passing the 400 Metres, SPEEDY KING blundered when racing tight outside the heels of BEAUTY LOYAL.
Approaching the 200 Metres, SPEEDY KING raced tight inside SHANGHAI MASTER.
JADE THEATRE had some difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 200 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, BREEDERS’ STAR was shifted to the inside of EIGHTY EIGHTY after being disappointed for running outside that horse and inside BEAUTY LOYAL. After being shifted further to the inside of STAR OF JOY in an attempt to obtain a tight run to that horse’s inside passing the 100 Metres, THE JUDGE improved its position to be racing inside BREEDERS’ STAR which resulted in BREEDERS’ STAR then being unable to continue improving inside STAR OF JOY which shifted in marginally under pressure. This resulted in BREEDERS’ STAR not being able to be tested for the final 100 Metres of the race.
Close to the finishing line, THE JUDGE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of STAR OF JOY and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, N Callan reported that SPEEDY KING became unbalanced in the Straight and did not feel comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EIGHTY EIGHTY and BEAUTY LOYAL were sent for sampling.
