Passing the 50 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running to the inside of LAPRAS and as a result was shifted to that runner’s outside to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

After the event H Bentley stated that his mount jumped awkwardly, travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages but did not finish the race off when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

12 9 SUPERB GUY (K323) A Atzeni Had its right hind plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Shortly after the start was severely checked when crowded between EXTREME BOMB and BEAUTY THUNDER which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider A Badel after being bumped by MR DESIRA (H Bentley) which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. As the Stewards were satisfied that both A Badel and H Bentley had endeavoured to correct their mounts as soon as they shifted ground, no action was taken.
4 10 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) A Badel On jumping was bumped by MR DESIRA which shifted out, resulting in BEAUTY THUNDER becoming unbalanced, shifting in and having to be corrected by its rider.

6 3 FLAGSHIP WARRIOR (G452) A Hamelin From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 700 Metres commenced to race keenly and shifted out when being steadied to avoid GLORIOUS RYDER. FLAGSHIP WARRIOR then continued to race keenly and near the 500 Metres again shifted out when being steadied away from BOWSER.
10 4 MIGHTY STEED (J384) A Atzeni Bumped at the start. Approaching the 1000 Metres raced keenly and was steadied when being crossed by MAGIC COMBO. Near the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of MAGIC COMBO when MAGIC COMBO shifted out slightly. After the event A Atzeni reported that his mount jumped only fairly and as a result settled further back than anticipated. He added in the Home Straight the horse was unable to make up any appreciable ground when placed under pressure. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
14 5 BOWSER (H460) K Teetan After the event K Teetan stated that his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the race and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. After the event L Ferraris stated that from a wide barrier he was provided with the option of taking up a forward position and lead if the circumstances permitted. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

Before being allowed to race again, LAKESHORE HERO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

9 4 DIRIYA (K282) E C W Wong (-5) On jumping was crowded between WONDERSTAR and MIRACLE FIGHTER which shifted in. DIRIYA was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 5 HERO SPARK (K221) K C Leung Jumped only fairly. In the early stages raced ungenerously and making the first turn hung out. B Thompson (TURF PHOENIX) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of HERO SPARK, resulting in HERO SPARK losing its running and being checked. In accordance with previous practices, B Thompson was fined the sum of $20,000 in lieu of a one-day suspension. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

12 9 JUDY'S GREAT (J016) H Bentley Just prior to entering the track slipped over, resulting in its rider H Bentley being dislodged. JUDY’S GREAT was examined by the Veterinary Officer immediately after the incident and again upon arrival at the starting gates and passed suitable to race. Bumped shortly after the start. After the event H Bentley stated that his mount felt free in its action whilst proceeding to the Start and during the race but the horse did not appreciate the track conditions which, whilst still rated as "Good”, had effects of some light rain which had fallen during the meeting. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
7 10 TURF PHOENIX (J294) B Thompson B Thompson pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see HERO SPARK).

After the event M Chadwick stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position. He said when his mount commenced well it settled in a more forward position in the early stages. He added approaching the first turn he was obliged to make use of his mount to cross SOLEIL FIGHTER to avoid racing wide and as a consequence in the Home Straight SWIFT ASCEND did not respond to his riding. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 9 TOURBILLON PRINCE (H122) M F Poon After the event M F Poon stated that his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event when runners to his inside held their position. He said this was the principal reason for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
6 10 LO RIDER (K161) H Bentley Shifted in at the start, made contact with GUSTOSISIMO and became unbalanced. Shortly after the start LO RIDER was then steadied to avoid GUSTOSISIMO when racing tight to the inside of TAJ DRAGON which shifted in after making contact with SWIFT ASCEND. Between the 350 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of YOUNG CHAMPION.

8 1 WINNING GOLD (H461) J Orman Near the 150 Metres was checked when crowded between GOOD LUCK BABE which shifted out slightly after being bumped by GLORIOUS SUCCESS and FLYING LUCK (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in as it hung in. After considering the evidence Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised whilst the Stewards were satisfied that he had made an endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting in, in the circumstances he should have made a greater effort to avoid crowding the running of WINNING GOLD.

12 6 EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS (H170) B Thompson After the event B Thompson reported that his mount raced too keenly in the middle stages and came under pressure prior to entering the Home Straight before giving ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He said due to the manner in which KINGDOM OF RICHES raced it set a faster tempo in the early stages than he had intended. The performance of KINGDOM OF RICHES, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KINGDOM OF RICHES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
9 9 SUPREME MASTERMIND (K387) A Badel Slow to begin. Approaching the 100 Metres was checked when crowded between EXCELLENCE VALUE and FRANTANCK which was taken out by WINNING GOLD which shifted out after being checked.
3 10 GLORIOUS SUCCESS (K062) K Teetan Approaching the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of YUEN LONG ELITE to obtain clear running and made contact with GOOD LUCK BABE. After the event K Teetan stated that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but his mount did not show sufficient pace to do so despite riding it along in the early stages.
