12 1 MAGIC COSMOS (J411) 7 R Kingscote Bumped shortly after the start. Making the turn approaching the 500 Metres shifted out and made slight contact with LEATHER MASTER. The performance of MAGIC COSMOS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC COSMOS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 2 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) 9 D B McMonagle Jumped only fairly.
3 3 STORM RUNNER (J452) 5 Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
5 4 CARRYON SMILING (J392) 6 H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.
7 5 SUPER SICARIO (K306) 12 E C W Wong (-5) After travelling a short distance shifted out and away from ROMANTIC FANTASY, resulting in its rider Apprentice E C W Wong having to correct his mount. For some distance near the 700 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from WAH MAY WAI WAI. When questioned regarding his riding in the middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to hold his position to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to go forward. He said when the early stages of the event were being run inside of standard time he elected to hold a trailing position behind WAH MAY WAI WAI on the rail. He said near the 1000 Metres as the pace of the event steadied his mount commenced to race keenly and as a result he was eased to avoid WAH MAY WAI WAI which resulted in his mount shifting out and being positioned to the outside of that runner. He said as the early stages were run inside of standard time and his mount has a tendency to hang in, he repositioned his mount behind WAH MAY WAI WAI to ensure it raced tractably and to provide it with the best opportunity to finish the race off in the Home Straight. He added after being briefly held up making the Home Turn SUPER SICARIO finished the race off in a one-paced manner. The Stewards advised Apprentice Wong that, in their opinion, he would have been better suited by holding his position to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI, however, having regard to his explanation, they found the tactics he adopted were reasonable in the circumstances.
2 6 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) 11 A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

4 10 GOLD TACK (H106) 4 K Teetan K Teetan stated that his instructions were to hold a more forward position but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to do so, particularly when it was bumped by WAH MAY WAI WAI which shifted out after travelling a short distance.

8 12 LEATHER MASTER (H034) 1 C Y Ho Approaching the 500 Metres was checked when crowded between MAGIC COSMOS which shifted out making the turn and CARRYON SMILING which raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC FANTASY (A Badel) when that runner shifted in.
