8 4 PRIME WINISTER (L218) 4 M F Poon Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start was then steadied when crowded between VICTORY CHAMPION which was taken in by BUSTLING CITY which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and VIEW ALL THINGS. In this incident PRIME WINISTER made contact with the hindquarters of VIEW ALL THINGS and lost further ground. M F Poon stated that after jumping only fairly and being crowded shortly after the start his mount settled further back in the field than what he had been instructed.
1 5 RAPID PHANTOM (L204) 2 H Y Yuen (-10) Over the final 200 Metres lay out and proved difficult to ride out to the finish. Sent for sampling post-race.
14 6 SMART HIGH (L349) 12 M Chadwick Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards considered an application from Jockey M Chadwick that his horse be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Starter Mr A Speechley, Jockey Chadwick and Trainer C H Yip, the Stewards found that as the start was being effected SMART HIGH reared and as a consequence lost significant ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that the Starter could not have reasonably anticipated the horse was going to rear it was declared a runner. Before being allowed to race again, SMART HIGH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
2 7 BUSTLING CITY (L210) 6 B Avdulla Shorty after the start shifted in and made contact with VICTORY CHAMPION when being corrected by its rider B Avdulla. Lay out over the final 200 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

3 9 RUBY THRIVE (L098) 14 P N Wong (-7) Shortly after the start made contact with SPEEDY POWER due to both runners shifting ground. Near the 500 Metres was steadied when crowded by INVICTUS which shifted out and away from BUSTLING CITY (B Avdulla) when that runner shifted out before being corrected by its rider. B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care. After the 200 Metres was eased and shifted to the inside of INVICTUS to continue into clear running.

A Badel stated that his mount would be better suited by being stepped back up in distance for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

14 5 QUICK MONEY (K377) 3 C L Chau (-2) Slipped in the saddling stalls and fell over, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Shifted out on jumping and made contact with DRACO.
10 6 GIDDY UP (J020) 5 B Avdulla Shifted in on jumping and made contact with DRACO. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
11 7 YEE CHEONG RAIDER (J176) 9 L Hewitson On jumping made contact with DOUBLE BINGO due to both runners shifting ground. Held up for clear running for some distance near the 350 Metres. Between the 250 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. L Hewitson stated that although his mount had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the Home Straight it finished the race off only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
7 8 SUPERB GUY (K323) 2 J Orman J Orman stated that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but when his mount jumped only fairly it did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.
2 9 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) 10 Z Purton On jumping made contact with YEE CHEONG RAIDER due to both runners shifting ground. When the pace steadied approaching the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from TEAM HAPPY. DOUBLE BINGO then continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages and refused to settle. Sent for sampling post-race.

4 11 DRACO (J115) 4 K C Leung On jumping was crowded between QUICK MONEY and GIDDY UP, both of which shifted ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres. Between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres was shifted to the outside of DOUBLE BINGO to obtain clear running.

C Y Ho reported that when the pace steadied approaching the 900 Metres TEAM HAPPY commenced to race keenly and as a result was steadied away from WINNING MACHINE. He added that as a consequence TEAM HAPPY was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.
13 14 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) 14 K Teetan Raced wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 900 Metres was taken wider by TEAM HAPPY. As a consequence WAH MAY WAI WAI then raced very wide and without cover thereafter.

13 3 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) 12 Y L Chung (-2) Y L Chung stated that he was instructed to settle the horse where comfortable. He said in the early stages his mount did not show early speed and as a result settled towards the rear of the field. Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions issued.
6 4 LUCKY TWENTY (K392) 7 E Brown Jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted in and away from JUSTIFYING and was steadied to avoid ACE EAGLE.
2 5 ACE EAGLE (L341) 6 Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight Z Purton stated that his mount was able to show good pace in the early stages to lead the event. He said after entering the Home Straight his mount naturally improved away from the field and established a break on other runners. He said as he approached the 200 Metres he was concerned that the horse was commencing to peak on its run and for this reason he held the horse together whilst continuing to encourage it until near the 200 Metres. He added after passing the 200 Metres he then placed his mount under full pressure where it responded to his riding, however, over the concluding stages was unable to hold off the eventual winer PACKING GLORY. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Purton were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
14 6 FOREVER LIFE (K488) 10 K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
8 7 SPEEDY PATCH (L104) 2 C L Chau (-2) Approaching the 1000 Metres, when racing ungenerously, got its head up when being steadied to avoid SEA DIAMOND which, after being taken in by ACE EAGLE, then shifted in and away from ACE EAGLE slightly. Z Purton was advised to exercise more care. SPEEDY PATCH then continued to race ungenerously throughout the early and middle stages and near the 550 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from LUCKY TWENTY. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance near the 400 Metres.
3 8 GUTSY BRAVO (L178) 14 J Orman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between LUCKY TWENTY and JUSTIFYING which was giving ground.
7 9 GOLDENTRONICMIGHTY (K002) 5 M L Yeung On jumping was bumped by FORERUNNER and as a result shifted out and made contact with ACE EAGLE.

Trainer C H Yip confirmed the instructions and said he issued those instructions as he was of the opinion there was not strong pace engaged in the race.

12 8 FORTUNE STAR (K003) 8 C L Chau (-2) Made contact with a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with GRAND PATCH. Shortly after FORTUNE STAR was steadied away from PRESIDENT PEGASUS which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 1200 Metres improved to the inside of MULTISUPERSTAR as that runner was being shifted in. As a result FORTUNE STAR was then steadied when racing tight to the inside of MULTISUPERSTAR. Between the 350 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. After being shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIA WAVES near the 150 Metres then could not be ridden out until near the 50 Metres when held up behind PRESIDENT PEGASUS.
13 9 SMILING CHAMPION (K565) 3 M Chadwick Jumped only fairly. When giving ground approaching the 150 Metres was steadied to avoid SILVER UP which shifted out slightly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 10 ALABAMA SONG (K480) 6 B Avdulla On jumping was bumped by HAPPY PROMISE which shifted out. Throughout the early and middle stages raced keenly. Approaching the 800 Metres improved close to HAPPY PROMISE and as a result was checked to avoid HAPPY PROMISE. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
2 12 QUICK CONTRIBUTION (K112) 11 P N Wong (-7) Trainer D J Hall confirmed that the instructions from a wide barrier were to go forward. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 13 MULTISUPERSTAR (L163) 2 Y L Chung (-2) Bumped at the start. Y L Chung stated that he was instructed to settle where comfortable but had expected to race in a more forward position. He added that as his mount did not show early pace it settled further back than what he had expected.
4 14 SILVER UP (J078) 14 M L Yeung Made contact with a rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
11 ILLUMINOUS (J170) M F Poon Withdrawn at the Start by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice after it was found to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ILLUMINOUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

9 2 RAGING BLIZZARD (H368) 2 B Avdulla When questioned B Avdulla stated that from an inside barrier he was able to hold a slightly more forward position than its previous race starts. He said throughout the middle stages he followed PATCH OF THETA and he had LITTLE PARADISE positioned to his outside. He said whilst he contemplated shifting out from the 600 Metres he felt he was not in a position to do so as LITTLE PARADISE was racing slightly in advance of his mount and travelling well at that stage. He said as he did not want to follow TOMODACHI KOKOROE he remained racing behind PATCH OF THETA. He added that on entering the Home Stright when PATCH OF THETA shifted out he took the only option available to shift to the outside of PATCH OF THETA, however, became held up behind COPARTNER PRANCE near the 250 Metres when that runner commenced to give ground. He further stated that he then looked to shift to the outside of COPARTNER PRANCE leaving the 200 Metres as he was of the opinion that COPARTNER PRANCE may continue to shift in when it was giving ground, however when COPARTNER PRANCE shifted out slightly this resulted in RAGING BLIZZARD being steadied when disappointed for clear running between COPARTNER PRANCE and PATCH OF THETA and as a result RAGING BLIZZARD did not obtain clear running between the 250 Metres and the 50 Metres.

8 4 COPARTNER PRANCE (H408) 7 H Bowman H Bowman stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by LUCKY WITH YOU and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

3 7 LUCKY WITH YOU (E356) 8 C L Chau L Ferraris was replaced by C L Chau (see General). C L Chau reported that the instructions were to go forward and obtain cover. He said when LUCKY WITH YOU jumped well he was obliged to continue forward to cross runners to his inside to avoid covering additional ground and as a result LUCKY WITH YOU settled outside the lead in the early stages.
6 8 CRIMSON FLASH (K173) 10 A Atzeni On jumping was hampered when taken wider by WINNING OVATION which shifted out. When caught wide in the early stages was steadied near the 1000 Metres to obtain cover behind SIX PACK.

H T Mo was advised to ensure that there is sufficient room when improving into runs. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when being steadied to avoid NUCLEOZOR which shifted out.
8 8 THE BOOM BOX (K076) 4 C Y Ho Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind NUCLEOZOR.
4 9 NUCLEOZOR (K285) 1 K Teetan Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind LOCH TAY. Approaching the winning post shifted out under pressure.
1 10 CALL ME MAGNIFIQUE (L339) 10 C L Chau (-2) On jumping shifted out and made contact with LOCH TAY. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer C S Shum confirmed that with a lack of pace engaged in the race he had instructed C L Chau to go forward with the option to lead if the pace was not strong. He said he attributed tonight’s performance to CALL ME MAGNIFIQUE being up in distance and being able to race on the pace, particularly with the middle stages being run outside of standard time. He further added that CALL ME MAGNIFIQUE had also derived a fitness benefit from its two previous race starts in Hong Kong. Sent for sampling post-race.

SHAMUS STORM continued to race keenly thereafter and refused to settle and as a result was allowed to stride forward where it raced very wide and without cover thereafter. Trainer D A Hayes advised that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and he was satisfied with the position the horse had obtained in the early stages. He said SHAMUS STORM was disadvantaged by racing too keenly throughout the middle stages which left it without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. He added that SHAMUS STORM would now be spelled and dropped back in distance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Whilst the Stewards accepted that Jockey Moreria had taken evasive action to avoid SEWARD and then corrected his mount when it shifted in towards GLORIOUS DYNASTY, he was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to provide due care to his fellow riders.
