Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
1 PODIUM (H173) E Brown stated that when his mount jumped well tonight he was able to hold a more forward position than its previous race starts. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 SETANTA (G095) Sent for sampling post-race.
12 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) No report.
5 TELECOM POWER (J332) Bumped shortly after the start. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 ZETTA FORCE (J546) No report.
8 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) No report.
10 SMILING EMPEROR (J371) No report.
2 PRINCE ALEX (G307) Bumped shortly after the start. Held up on the Home Turn.
7 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between WINDICATOR FAMILY and NOBLE FANS, both of which shifted ground. Passing the 1500 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by ZETTA FORCE which lay in and away from SETANTA despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the 400 Metres made contact with DRAGON SUNRISE when that runner lay in and away from SETANTA. M F Poon stated that after jumping only fairly and being crowded at the start his mount settled further back in the field than had been intended. He added when the pace of the event increased from the 800 Metres DOUBLE BINGO did not respond to his riding and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 DRAGON SUNRISE (J269) Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied when crowded between ZETTA FORCE and SETANTA (L Ferraris) which shifted in when not clear. L Ferraris was reprimanded. Approaching the 400 Metres lay in and made contact with DOUBLE BINGO. Z Purton could offer no excuse for the horse’s failure to run on in the Home Straight. Trainer K W Lui stated that the horse had pleased him leading into the race but could offer no excuse for its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
4 NOBLE FANS (K038) Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with DOUBLE BINGO.
9 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) Bumped shortly after the start. Passing the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid NOBLE FANS (R Kingscote) which shifted in when not clear. R Kingscote was reprimanded. When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to go forward of PODIUM to avoid racing wide K C Leung stated that the instructions were to take up a midfield position. He said when his mount jumped well it held a forward position. He added that when positioned to the outside of PODIUM he was reluctant to allow his mount to stride forward as he was of the opinion this would be in contrast to the instructions that had been issued. He said as a result WINDICATOR FAMILY was obliged to race wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
