Racing Incident Report
TEMMOKU bounded in the air at the start. FORTUNE DANCER began awkwardly, then became unbalanced when bumped by EUPHORIC KID. With the intention of being ridden in a rearward position from a wide barrier, FLORAL DANCER after beginning well was taken back. Making the first turn, EASY DASH became unbalanced and bumped the running rail. Near the 1400 Metres and again near the 1200 Metres, COTTON BALL got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of X-SPEED. After the 1200 Metres, EASY DASH was checked when crowded for room by MADE IN HONGKONG which shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of WADADELIGHT which at this time was racing keenly. EUPHORIC KID was in turn steadied away from the heels of EASY DASH. In the early part of the Back Straight, HAPPY KID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING PARADE. Near the 800 Metres, TEMMOKU was carried wider by MADE IN HONGKONG which shifted out. Near the 600 Metres, WADADELIGHT and HAPPY KID raced tight due mainly to HAPPY KID endeavouring to shift to the outside of WINNING PARADE which was giving ground. For some distance after the 600 Metres, X-SPEED was held up and unable to improve behind ELITE WIN and WINNING PARADE which were giving ground. Near the 500 Metres, WINNING PARADE, which was continuing to give ground, was checked when crowded for room between ELITE WIN and HAPPY KID (C Brown) which became unbalanced and shifted in after bumping with WADADELIGHT (A Delpech) which itself became unbalanced behind. Both C Brown and A Delpech were told whilst the Stewards accepted competitive riding there is a limit to how far such riding can be taken and further A Delpech was advised on this occasion his riding bordered on being improper. COTTON BALL, which was following WINNING PARADE, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of that horse. Prior to straightening, EUPHORIC KID, which was improving, was carried wider by WINNING PARADE which shifted out after being bumped by X-SPEED. Throughout the race, ESPRIT D'OR raced three wide and without cover outside the lead. The performances of ELITE WIN, WINNING PARADE and EASY DASH, which all finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ELITE WIN, WINNING PARADE and EASY DASH will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ESPRIT D'OR, WADADELIGHT and X-SPEED were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported when presented at the sampling stalls following the race, ESPRIT D'OR was lame in the left front leg as a result of having spread that plate. He said in his opinion this was likely to be a post-race incident.
