Racing Incident Report
GREAT FORTUNE was withdrawn on 30.1.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MONZA KING (Y T Cheng). Before being allowed to race again, GREAT FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving in the saddling stalls, STEP FORWARD had an adjustment made to its left front plate. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CAPABILITY stood flat-footed when the gates opened and lost a considerable amount of ground. BROWN BEAUTY was slow to begin. LEGIONNAIRE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, SNIPER lost ground when crowded for room between RICH FOR ALL and POSA which shifted in abruptly. In this incident, RICH FOR ALL also became unbalanced. On straightening, POSA was bumped by CAPABILITY which at this time shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running. CAPABILITY was unable to obtain clear running and was then shifted back behind SNIPER. After straightening, FORTUNE GOLD got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of LEGIONNAIRE. Shortly after this, FORTUNE GOLD shifted in slightly, causing WATCHMAN which had been endeavouring to improve on its inside to be disappointed for running and steadied. In the Straight, STEP FORWARD hung out. FORTUNE GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. CAPABILITY, X-SPEED and LUCKY STALLION were sent for sampling.
