Racing Incident Report
When being loaded, MULTI-WIN SPIRIT bumped its right shoulder on the barriers. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NATURAL NINE was slow to begin. Near the 1400 Metres, CHINSOLA became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of NATURAL NINE (S Dye) which when being ridden along to make up ground shifted in. S Dye was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. For some distance after the 900 Metres, QUALITY-QUALITY was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHINSOLA. Near the 200 Metres, X-SPEED, which was giving ground, was momentarily crowded for room inside NATURAL NINE which at this time shifted to the inside of NAMJONG GOODLUCK into clear running. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, CRUSADER OF GOLD had difficulty obtaining clear running. O Doleuze (LORD CAIRNS) said from barrier 3 he remained racing on the outside of SHATIN WIN WIN which had drawn to his immediate inside. He said approaching the turn at the 800 Metres SHATIN WIN WIN shifted to a three wide position and carried him out, resulting in him not having cover. He said after this SHATIN WIN WIN hung out and shifted wider, he therefore steadied LORD CAIRNS to come back to a position behind SHATIN WIN WIN near the 700 Metres. He said because of this LORD CAIRNS was obliged to travel further back than he wished. He said in the Straight LORD CAIRNS did not respond to his riding, however, the performance of the horse was due to not having any luck in running. LORD CAIRNS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported after cooling down following the race LORD CAIRNS had developed "thumps". Before being allowed to race again, LORD CAIRNS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DANSOLDE and QUALITY-QUALITY were sent for sampling.
