Racing Incident Report
LUCKY CORDELIA was withdrawn on 13.1.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SHATIN WIN WIN (E Saint-Martin). Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY CORDELIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SHATIN WIN WIN, AURELIAN and KING OF SPADES were slow to begin. In the early stages, MAINLAND MASTER proved very difficult to settle, on a number of occasions got its head up and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward into the lead. In the Straight, SUPER hung out, after the 300 Metres commenced to shift out abruptly to the outside rail. When SUPER was shifting out after the 300 Metres, AURELIAN was steadied away from the heels of that horse. When questioned regarding the improved performance of SUPER, Mr C W Chang, trainer of the horse, said two starts ago when racing over 1400 Metres on the turf SUPER raced too keenly and as a consequence failed to finish the race. He said because of this he removed the blinkers from SUPER and at its most recent start the horse raced in a more relaxed manner, however, hung out and was wide and without cover. He said because of this today he added a cross nose band to the gear in which SUPER raced in an extra attempt to make the horse more tractable. He did say SUPER had shown considerable improvement in its track work since its last run. DANSING FUN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANSING FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. AURELIAN, SUPER and SHATIN WIN WIN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported SUPER had sustained a laceration to the left hind heel.
