Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that MR TOPAZ had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. MR TOPAZ was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said, in his opinion, it was suitable to race. From outside barriers, JUST CHILL, GIVE WELL and ROYAL PUMPKIN were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, ABSOLUTE HEDGE, which began awkwardly, was steadied when crowded for room between HELENE WITTY and VIVA FIGHTER which shifted out. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, ROYAL PUMPKIN shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUST CHILL. This resulted in GIVE WELL being taken wider. Near the 500 Metres, GIVE WELL raced tight inside ROYAL PUMPKIN. Passing the 250 Metres, JUST CHILL was shifted to the inside of HELENE WITTY to obtain clear running. Over the final 150 Metres, MR TOPAZ was not able to obtain clear running and because of this was not properly tested. Near the 100 Metres, ABSOLUTE HEDGE was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of OTTIMO. Approaching the 100 Metres, ROYAL PUMPKIN was steadied when disappointed for running inside SKY WALKER which at this time was giving ground. After this, ROYAL PUMPKIN was held up for clear running behind that horse. HOLIDAY SUN and OTTIMO were sent for sampling.
