Racing Incident Report

Passing the 1200 Metres, MY MATE ADRIC became unbalanced when bumped by I SMELL MONEY (Apprentice M L Yeung) which shifted out away from the heels of MY GOAL. Apprentice Yeung was reprimanded and advised that he must exercise care when shifting ground so as to avoid causing unnecessary interference to other runners. MY GOAL was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and for some distance approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room between MY MATE ADRIC and MY WHISKY when attempting a tight run between those horses. After being disappointed for running after the 300 Metres, MY GOAL then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 100 Metres. Over the concluding stages, MY GOAL again raced in restricted room between MY WHISKY and MY MATE ADRIC. When questioned, G Mossé stated that near the 1300 Metres OPEN SESAME commenced to over-race and had to be shifted out to avoid ARION OF CHIU TON. He said when he did this, BOUNCER was ridden along by its rider to improve its position to his inside and for this reason he was not able to shift back in to a position behind ARION OF CHIU TON as he had hoped. He said as OPEN SESAME was left racing three wide and without cover, he allowed it to stride forward near the 1000 Metres in an endeavour to obtain a position closer to the fence. He added however he was not able to achieve this and OPEN SESAME travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race and in the Straight gave ground. He said the performance of OPEN SESAME could be attributed solely to the fact that the horse was not able to obtain cover for the major part of the race. A veterinary inspection of OPEN SESAME after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, OPEN SESAME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MY MATE ADRIC after the race did not show any significant findings. OPEN SESAME, KING OF SCOTS and JOYFUL WINNER II were sent for sampling.
