Racing Incident Report
From the outside barrier, ABLE TALENT was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.
A short distance after the start, YOURTHEWONFORME was momentarily crowded for room between LUCKY SEBRING and WORLD CITY which shifted in.
Approaching the 1150 Metres, STRATUM POWER was crowded for room between GREAT SPEED and OPTIMISM which got its head on the side and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
After being vigorously ridden along to obtain a forward position, CHANS DELIGHT commenced to buck near the 1150 Metres, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground. OPTIMISM, which was being shifted in in order to obtain a trailing positon behind CHANS DELIGHT, was directed out away from the heels of that horse when it lost ground and then making the turn after the 1100 Metres got its head on the side and lay out. After this, OPTIMISM continued to race with its head on the side. A veterinary inspection of CHANS DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, CHANS DELIGHT will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
WORLD CITY lost its right hind plate near the 1100 Metres.
Shortly after entering the Straight, GREAT SPEED was shifted to the inside of MANHATTAN STRIKER to obtain clear running. GREAT SPEED then had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres.
Over the concluding stages, GREAT SPEED was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FOREVER FUN and consequently was not able to be properly tested all the way to the end of the race.
After passing the winning post, FOREVER FUN (Apprentice H N Wong) shifted in, resulting in GREAT SPEED being checked. Apprentice Wong was severely reprimanded and advised that he must, in similar circumstances, ensure that he remains attentive to his mounts shifting ground so as not to place other horses or riders in a dangerous position.
GREAT SPEED, WORLD CITY and MANHATTAN STRIKER were sent for sampling.
