Racing Incident Report

SUNNY ORIENT and VICTORY MUSIC began only fairly.
REGENCY HORSE and NOBLE DE LOVE bumped heavily at the start.
Shortly after the start, DARING FIT shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of MONEY BOY.
Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, NOBLE DE LOVE, when being steadied to obtain cover behind MONEY BOY, got its head in the side and shifted out towards the heels of that horse, resulting in NOBLE DE LOVE having to be checked and lose ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that this incident was attributable to the racing manners of NOBLE DE LOVE, no further action was taken.
VICTORY MUSIC was not able to obtain clear running until passing the 250 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, SUNNY ORIENT was shifted in away from the heels of FOREVER ACCURATE after being held up for clear running behind that horse which was giving ground.
Also passing the 200 Metres, HAPPY SOUND got its head on the side and shifted out away from DARING FIT.
After the 100 Metres, DARING FIT shifted out and passing the 50 Metres was momentarily awkwardly placed behind MONEY BOY which shifted in marginally.
Over the concluding stages, VICTORY MUSIC raced tight between LETSGOFREE and SUNNY ORIENT.
Throughout the race, CHEER WIN travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, C Williams (FOREVER ACCURATE) stated that he had to make some use of the horse in the early stages to cross from a wide barrier, nonetheless it was concerning the manner in which it weakened out of the race in the Straight. He said FOREVER ACCURATE came under pressure near the 500 Metres and then did not quicken as MONEY BOY did passing the 400 Metres. He said from this point onwards FOREVER ACCURATE continued to give ground and the early work that he did on the horse to overcome the wide barrier, in his opinion, was not an excuse for the horse’s disappointing run. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER ACCURATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FOREVER ACCURATE, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER ACCURATE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of REGENCY HORSE, N Callan stated that after being bumped heavily at the start, he was able to improve his position in the early stages to obtain a position behind the leaders. He said after the 800 Metres he had to ride REGENCY HORSE along as it was reluctant to maintain its position between FOREVER ACCURATE and LETSGOFREE. He said he was surprised by this as REGENCY HORSE had not previously shown this trait either in its races or in its barrier trials when ridden by him. He said REGENCY HORSE continued to be reluctant to maintain its position and near the 200 Metres got its head on the side and shifted in when continuing to be hesitant to improve into clear running inside CHEER WIN. He added, due to its racing manners, REGENCY HORSE then did not finish off the race over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY HORSE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
MONEY BOY and RADIANT STEED were sent for sampling.
<19/12/2016 Additional Veterinary Report>REGENCY HORSE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. REGENCY HORSE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer W Y So yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY HORSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
