Racing Incident Report

After being placed in the barriers, DAZZLE reared and momentarily got its front feet on top of the front gates, resulting in S Clipperton being dislodged. DAZZLE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
Just prior to the start being effected, MASSIVE MILLENNIUM became fractious. Then as the start was effected, MASSIVE MILLENNIUM bounded in the air and consequently was slow to begin.
NOTED PERFORMER began only fairly.
JUMBO HAPPINESS and MR PICASSO bumped at the start. JUMBO HAPPINESS was then hampered when crowded for room between SPARKLING TALENT and MR PICASSO which shifted out.
GREAT SKY and DAZZLE bumped at the start.
DARING FIT began awkwardly and then became unbalanced after being bumped by LOVE CHUNGHWA.
From a wide barrier, LOVE CHUNGHWA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1000 Metres, MASSIVE MILLENNIUM commenced to prove very difficult to settle, got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in JUMBO HAPPINESS being crowded for room inside NOTED PERFORMER.
After the 800 Metres, DAZZLE was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performance of DAZZLE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DAZZLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Near the 50 Metres, DARING FIT shifted in and away from GRACEFUL KINGDOM which got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in DARING FIT being checked away from the heels of HASTA LA VISTA which shifted out marginally. LOVE CHUNGHWA, which was following DARING FIT, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse in consequence.
When questioned, Mr J Moore, the trainer of SEA JADE, stated that after being successful when leading over 1200 Metres, SEA JADE was then disappointing when dropped back in distance to 1000 Metres the following start. He said at its next start SEA JADE, back over 1200 Metres, had again disappointed him in the manner in which it finished off the race over the final 200 Metres after leading. He said as the horse did not finish off the race on that occasion, at its most recent start he instructed T Berry to ride SEA JADE more patiently in the hope that it would then be able to close off. He said on this occasion it was hoped that SEA JADE would be able to obtain a position behind the leader, however, due to the makeup of the field, SEA JADE was obliged to race in a three wide position with cover. He added as SEA JADE did not run up to expectations at its last start, he elected to bring the horse to Happy Valley for the first time to see if it would be able to close off better with a shorter straight. He said when SEA JADE drew well and with there being no other established leaders in the race, he instructed Z Purton to lead on SEA JADE tonight given that the tempo of the race was not likely to be strong. Mr Moore was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he must ensure that, wherever circumstances permit, horses trained by him are ridden in a consistent manner.
A veterinary inspection of MR PICASSO, LOVE CHUNGHWA and DAZZLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SEA JADE and HASTA LA VISTA were sent for sampling.
<1/12/2016 Additional Veterinary Report>DAZZLE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. DAZZLE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. As previously advised, DAZZLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
