Racing Incident Report

HAPPY CHEERS was withdrawn on 12.5.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind). Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY CHEERS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EXPERTO CREDE began awkwardly.
UNIQUE JOYOUS was slow to begin. After this, UNIQUE JOYOUS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From a wide barrier, WORLD RECORD was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Despite being aggressively ridden in the early stages, TANG FLEMING failed to muster speed.
Passing the 1000 Metres, WORLD RECORD raced tight between STARLIT KNIGHT and FRIENDS OF NANJING which shifted in.
Approaching the 900 Metres, WORLD RECORD raced in restricted room inside FRIENDS OF NANJING which was racing tight inside TANG FLEMING.
After the 900 Metres, EXPERTO CREDE was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 500 Metres, SKYROCKETS was checked away from the heels of FULL GLAMOUR and shifted out, resulting in HAPPY JOURNEY and HINYUEN SWIFTNESS being hampered when racing tight inside EXPERTO CREDE. In this incident, MIGHTY MAVERICK was momentarily crowded for room when improving into tight running inside SKYROCKETS.
At the 400 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK raced close to the heels of FULL GLAMOUR when being shifted out from behind that horse. In this incident, FULL GLAMOUR became unbalanced.
HAPPY JOURNEY was badly held up for clear running until near the 350 Metres.
For the majority of the race, TANG FLEMING travelled wide and without cover.
The performance of ART OF RAW, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ART OF RAW will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of FRIENDS OF NANJING, C Schofield stated that although the horse was obliged to race three wide, he believed it to be a good position given the track conditions at this stage of the meeting and the fact that FRIENDS OF NANJING was able to always race with cover. He said FRIENDS OF NANJING travelled very well in the early and middle stages and when TANG FLEMING improved into the race after the 600 Metres, he was able to improve behind that horse. He said however that at the entrance to the Straight FRIENDS OF NANJING immediately came under pressure and then, despite being ridden along, weakened noticeably over the concluding stages and was very disappointing. A veterinary inspection of FRIENDS OF NANJING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FRIENDS OF NANJING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FRIENDS OF NANJING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WORLD RECORD, HAPPY JOURNEY and TANG FLEMING were sent for sampling.
