Racing Incident Report
FOREVER POSH was withdrawn on 9.1.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KING BOUNTIFUL (M Chadwick). Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER POSH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
KING BOUNTIFUL and MR KOOL bumped at the start.
Shortly after the start, SEE ME NOW shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GOOD CHOICE AHEAD which became unbalanced.
From the outside barrier, SUPER CLAN was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Near the 1600 Metres, MR KOOL, which was being ridden along to obtain a forward position, was crowded for room between VARA PEARL which got its head on the side and shifted out and SPINNING DANCER which shifted in.
Passing the 1300 Metres, PEARL WARM WARM was crowded for room inside CONTRIBUTION which was taken in by DUTCH WINDMILL (C Schofield). C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for his fellow riders in similar circumstances. For some distance after this, PEARL WARM WARM raced tight inside CONTRIBUTION.
Passing the 300 Metres, PEARL WARM WARM was shifted in after being disappointed for running between MY BLESSING and DUTCH WINDMILL which got its head on the side and lay in. PEARL WARM WARM then had some difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metres was awkwardly placed behind MY BLESSING and DUTCH WINDMILL. Because of this, PEARL WARM WARM was not able to be properly tested.
A veterinary inspection of VARA PEARL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CONTRIBUTION and GOOD CHOICE AHEAD were sent for sampling.
