Racing Incident Report

VERY SWEET ORANGE was slow to begin.
WISH COME TRUE and VICTORY MARCH bumped after both horses began awkwardly.
LUCKY COIN was crowded for room on jumping between BEAUT BEAUT and KINGSTON ONE, both of which shifted ground.
PLEASANT GUY shifted in at the start and bumped NOBLE DELIGHT.
Shortly after the start, RESPECT shifted out and bumped TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET.
After travelling a short distance, VICTORY MARCH bumped the hindquarters of SKYRAIDER, causing both horses to become unbalanced. VICTORY MARCH was then steadied near the 950 Metres when crowded for room between WISH COME TRUE which was racing tight outside TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET and SKYRAIDER which shifted in when unbalanced.
Passing the 800 Metres, THOU SHALL SING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HOT HOT PEPPER.
After the 800 Metres, VERY SWEET ORANGE commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of THOU SHALL SING near the 650 Metres. After this, VERY SWEET ORANGE continued to travel keenly until after the 500 Metres.
Passing the 500 Metres, LUCKY VOLATILITY got its head on the side and lay out.
Approaching the 300 Metres, BEAUT BEAUT was steadied when crowded for room between LUCKY VOLATILITY which shifted out when continuing to lay out and THOU SHALL SING (N Rawiller) which shifted in to improve into tight running between BEAUT BEAUT and HOT HOT PEPPER. N Rawiller was reprimanded and advised that whilst there was some contribution to this incident from LUCKY VOLATILITY, nonetheless his movement to the inside of HOT HOT PEPPER had placed the initial pressure on BEAUT BEAUT. N Rawiller was advised to exercise due care when attempting runs in similar circumstances.
Near the 250 Metres, THOU SHALL SING raced in restricted room between LUCKY VOLATILITY and HOT HOT PEPPER which shifted in marginally. When HOT HOT PEPPER was directed out to relieve the tightening to THOU SHALL SING, PLEASANT GUY, which was following, became awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse for some distance. Then near the 200 Metres, NOBLE DELIGHT, which was commencing to give ground, momentarily raced tight outside PLEASANT GUY as that horse improved to the outside of HOT HOT PEPPER.
When questioned regarding the performance of LUCKY COIN, Z Purton stated that it had been anticipated that the horse would show speed in today’s race as it had done so in a recent barrier trial since its last run. He said after being crowded for room on jumping LUCKY COIN did not show as much early speed as he anticipated, therefore he elected to obtain cover on the horse in the hope of having it travel better. He said, despite his efforts, LUCKY COIN did not travel on the bridle at any stage of the race and he had to ride the horse along after the 800 Metres in an attempt to have it maintain its position. He said, despite being vigorously ridden, LUCKY COIN commenced to give ground and as he had concerns regarding the horse’s welfare, given the manner in which it was losing ground, he did not ride it out over the last 300 Metres. He added at this time LUCKY COIN was already well beaten. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY COIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY COIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of NOBLE DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY VOLATILITY and THOU SHALL SING were sent for sampling.
