Race:1 (91) CHUNG ON HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 (Restricted) 1000 m

Whilst in the saddling stalls, SMART ROCKET had its right hind plate refitted. SMART ROCKET was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
GREAT VICTORY began awkwardly and lost ground.
SMART ROCKET began only fairly.
BELLA BABY shifted out on jumping and bumped BLIZZING AWAY.
LE TERROIR and BIG PARTY brushed at the start.
Passing the 700 Metres, ROYAL RACER commenced to travel keenly and shifted in away from the heels of HAINAN STAR and in doing so raced tight between that horse and GREAT VICTORY.
Passing the 300 Metres, BELLA BABY was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of PERFECT MATCH.
Also passing the 300 Metres, LE TERROIR became unbalanced of its own accord.
Close to the finishing line, LE TERROIR raced close to the heels of BIG PARTY.
When questioned regarding the performance of BIG PARTY, N Callan stated that due to the circumstances of its two trials in the lead up to today’s race, BIG PARTY had not needed to come off the bridle and had travelled strongly throughout. He said in its most recent trial, the horse had lay in and therefore consideration was given by connections as to whether the horse should have a further trial leading into today’s race. He said given the likely makeup of today’s race which was run under restricted conditions, it was felt that this would be a suitable option for the horse’s racing debut. He added BIG PARTY travelled well in the early and middle stages albeit the horse was inclined to lay in as it did in its most recent trial which he put down to immaturity. He said whilst BIG PARTY did not finish off the race as well as he anticipated, he felt that the horse would improve markedly for the race experience. Trainer F C Lor confirmed that he did give consideration to giving BIG PARTY another trial prior to racing, however, this was only for experience purposes and not from a fitness point of view. He also offered the opinion that BIG PARTY would benefit greatly from today’s race. A veterinary inspection of BIG PARTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE but did add that as the horse was first up today it may benefit from the race. A veterinary inspection of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GREAT VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BIG PARTY, STRATHALLAN and HAINAN STAR were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (92) HOI PA HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1800 m

MCQUEEN got its head up on jumping.
BEAUTY DAY lost its right front plate at the start.
From the outside barriers, KIRAM and GREAT TREASURE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After the 1600 Metres, NEW ELEGANCE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BEAUTY DAY (K C Leung). K C Leung was severely reprimanded and warned against the practice of steadying the tempo of the race too quickly.
Passing the 1500 Metres, NEW ELEGANCE shifted in and brushed the running rail of its own accord.
Near the 75 Metres, MCQUEEN momentarily raced tight inside NEW ELEGANCE which initially shifted in away from CHEERFUL GIGGLES before racing tight inside that horse.
Over the concluding stages, KIRAM was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WILLIE WAY and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEAUTY DAY, K C Leung stated that the horse, which was attempting 1800 Metres for the first time today, would not relax in the early and middle stages. He said after beginning well he was able to obtain the lead easily and he immediately attempted to steady the tempo on BEAUTY DAY to ensure that the horse was able to see out the distance. He said, despite his efforts, BEAUTY DAY would not relax and he did give consideration to allowing the horse more rein rather than having it fight against him. He said however as no other horse challenged BEAUTY DAY, he did not believe it would be in the horse’s best interests to allow it to extend further away from the field. He added rounding the Home Turn BEAUTY DAY lay out and then after the 400 Metres gave ground and weakened thereafter. He said, in his opinion, the performance of the horse was solely due to it not relaxing over a distance that it had not previously attempted. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY DAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CHEERFUL GIGGLES at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CHEERFUL GIGGLES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BEAUTY DAY, WILLIE WAY and GREAT TREASURE were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (93) SHA TSUI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

I’M A WITNESS, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 11.10.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sinus infection). Before being allowed to race again, I’M A WITNESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GLITTERING ARMOUR began only fairly and then was crowded for room between LOADED and REGENCY HONEY, both of which shifted ground abruptly. This resulted in GLITTERING ARMOUR losing ground and LOADED and REGENCY HONEY becoming unbalanced.
ADONIS began awkwardly and then became unbalanced when bumped by NATURAL FLARE which shifted in after being inconvenienced by SUPER EURO STAR. ADONIS then shifted in when unbalanced and bumped M REBORN which was crowded for room. After this, NATURAL FLARE failed to muster speed despite being ridden along and settled back in the field.
SNOWHOOVES and SUNNY ORIENT bumped at the start.
Approaching the 800 Metres, SUNNY ORIENT was left racing wide and without cover.
HOT HOT PEPPER made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Approaching the 200 Metres, REGENCY HONEY was momentarily eased away from the heels of RICHCITY FORTUNE (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted out when not quite clear. Apprentice Mo was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Passing the 200 Metres, SUNNY ORIENT shifted out away from the heels of HOT HOT PEPPER which shifted out away from RICHCITY FORTUNE.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ADONIS, M Chadwick stated that it was anticipated that the horse would race very well today given that it was down in grade and the manner in which it worked when ridden by him in the lead up to today’s race. He said it was anticipated that there would be good pace in the race and it was hoped that ADONIS would be able to obtain a position behind the speed in front of midfield. He said after beginning awkwardly ADONIS was able to improve its position in the early stages and he was very happy with the position that he was able to obtain behind HOT HOT PEPPER. He said however making the turn after the 900 Metres he immediately became concerned as ADONIS was not travelling as strongly as it had done when ridden by him in the past. He said passing the 500 Metres there was an opportunity for ADONIS to improve its position inside HOT HOT PEPPER when that horse shifted to the outside of SCARBOROUGH FAIR, however, despite being ridden along, ADONIS was not able to improve its position which allowed REGENCY HONEY the opportunity to take advantage of that run. He added ADONIS, despite being ridden along rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, did not quicken and then did not respond to his riding for the remainder of the race. A veterinary inspection of ADONIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of REGENCY HONEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HOT HOT PEPPER immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
RICHCITY FORTUNE, GLITTERING ARMOUR and M REBORN were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (94) TAI HO HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

SAM’S LOVE began only fairly.
HAPPY HAPPY STAR shifted out at the start and bumped SUNSHINE UNIVERSE.
GRAND HARBOUR shifted out at the start and inconvenienced VERY SWEET ORANGE.
SWEETIE BARLEY was crowded for room on jumping between STRIKING MR C and JUST NOT LISTENING, both of which shifted ground. After this, from a wide barrier, SWEETIE BARLEY was shifted across behind runners.
GIDDY GIDDY began awkwardly.
From the outside barrier, VIVA COUNCIL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
VERY SWEET ORANGE brushed the running rail of its own accord near the 700 Metres, causing the horse to become badly unbalanced and shifting out towards the heels of JUST NOT LISTENING.
Making the turn after the 700 Metres, GIDDY GIDDY got its head on the side and hung out and after this raced wide and without cover.
For some distance approaching the 500 Metres, VERY SWEET ORANGE (Apprentice C Wong) raced close to the heels of JUST NOT LISTENING. Apprentice Wong, in the presence of Mr F Coetzee, Chief Riding Instructor, was shown the video footage of the relevant portion of the race and advised to ensure that he does not allow his mounts to race too close to the heels of runners in front.
Rounding the Home Turn, GRAND HARBOUR was awkwardly placed behind STRIKING MR C.
Rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight, DOLLAR REWARD lay out.
Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, SWEETIE BARLEY was held up for clear running and near the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of KIROV to improve.
When questioned, H N Wong stated that it was intended for HAPPY HAPPY STAR to be ridden in a forward position, however, the horse did not begin well. He said he rode his mount vigorously in the early stages, however, HAPPY HAPPY STAR did not show any early speed and after being shifted to the inside of KIROV near the 1100 Metres, despite being continually ridden along, would not improve its position. He said HAPPY HAPPY STAR did not feel entirely comfortable in its action and at no stage raced competitively. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY HAPPY STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY HAPPY STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GIDDY GIDDY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GRAND HARBOUR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of STRIKING MR C immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
JUST NOT LISTENING and SAM’S LOVE were sent for sampling.
<15/10/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>GIDDY GIDDY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. GIDDY GIDDY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg with a restricted action in all four limbs. Before being allowed to race again, GIDDY GIDDY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:5 (95) THE CHINESE GENERAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

As the start was effected, MY WINNER bounded in the air, resulting in its rider, K Teetan, becoming very unbalanced and MY WINNER losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, MY WINNER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
SUPREME WITNESS began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between MONICA and MAGIC SUCCESS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from FORTUNATE RUNNER which shifted in. After this, SUPREME WITNESS was ridden along for some distance to obtain the lead after the 900 Metres.
RUMBA DELAGO began very awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of NORDIC WARRIOR, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Passing the 450 Metres, CLEAR CHOICE, which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HAVE FUN TOGETHER, became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by PEARL CHAMPION.
Passing the 400 Metres, NORDIC WARRIOR and EVERYONE’S ELITE raced tight.
After being unable to improve to the outside of HAVE FUN TOGETHER passing the 400 Metres, PEARL CHAMPION was consequently shifted to the inside of that horse. PEARL CHAMPION was then badly held up for clear running over the final 200 Metres and near the 50 Metres was checked away from the heels of SUPREME WITNESS. Because of this, PEARL CHAMPION was not able to be tested.
Passing the 250 Metres and again passing the 200 Metres, SAVVY SEVEN and MY WINNER raced tight.
Near the 200 Metres, ENERGETIC CLASS was steadied away from the heels of PEARL CHAMPION which shifted in. ENERGETIC CLASS was then held up for clear running until approaching the 100 Metres and after the 100 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of HAVE FUN TOGETHER.
Passing the 150 Metres, FORTUNATE RUNNER shifted out abruptly, resulting in FOLLOW ME, NORDIC WARRIOR and MAGIC SUCCESS being inconvenienced.
For the majority of the race, MONICA and EVERYONE’S ELITE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HAVE FUN TOGETHER, Z Purton stated that, from a wide barrier, he rode his mount positively in the early stages and HAVE FUN TOGETHER was able to shift across to race on the rail without having to have too much use made of it. He said when SUPREME WITNESS improved around HAVE FUN TOGETHER near the 900 Metres, he allowed that horse to cross and he was happy with the manner in which HAVE FUN TOGETHER travelled in the early and middle stages. He said HAVE FUN TOGETHER quickened satisfactorily in the early part of the Straight when shifted to the outside of SUPREME WITNESS, however, despite being placed under heavy pressure, did not improve past that horse and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of HAVE FUN TOGETHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PEARL CHAMPION at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PEARL CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAVE FUN TOGETHER, FORTUNATE RUNNER and FOLLOW ME were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (96) TAK WAH HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

SHINING BRIGHT and LIGHTNING STEED were crowded for room on jumping between EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE which shifted out abruptly and HAPPY TOUR which began awkwardly and shifted in. This resulted in both SHINING BRIGHT and LIGHTNING STEED becoming badly unbalanced and losing ground. When being corrected following this incident, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE shifted in and bumped KEEP GOING which in turn shifted in, resulting in crowding to PRECIOUS SWEETIE outside MONKEY JEWELLERY.
Passing the 1100 Metres, PRECIOUS SWEETIE, which was being steadied to obtain cover, raced in restricted room between KEEP GOING and MONKEY JEWELLERY which got its head on the side and shifted out away from SWOT WINDICATOR which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of E MASTER.
After the 800 Metres, REGENCY DARLING raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
HAPPY FORCE got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn.
At the entrance to the Straight, REGENCY DARLING momentarily shifted out away from the heels of EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE which shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of LIGHTNING STEED.
SWOT WINDICATOR raced ungenerously under pressure in the Straight and after the 300 Metres shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten the horse.
After the 200 Metres, REGENCY DARLING raced in restricted room between PRECIOUS SWEETIE and HAPPY FORCE which shifted out from behind EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE to obtain clear running. HAPPY FORCE was then shifted to the outside of PRECIOUS SWEETIE passing the 50 Metres.
When questioned regarding the performance of GENTLE BREEZE, K Teetan stated that after obtaining a trailing position behind the eventual winner HAPPY TOUR, GENTLE BREEZE travelled well. He said GENTLE BREEZE did not quicken as well as HAPPY TOUR in the early part of the Straight, however, did stay on until about the 200 Metres at which time the horse’s condition gave out. He added although GENTLE BREEZE gave ground over the concluding stages, he was of the opinion that the horse, which was first up today, would take benefit from the race. A veterinary inspection of GENTLE BREEZE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that it was hoped for MONKEY JEWELLERY to settle in about a midfield position, however, after beginning only fairly and due to the circumstances of the race in the early stages MONKEY JEWELLERY was required to race slightly further back in the field than had been hoped. He said the tempo of the race in the middle stages was only fair and this resulted in MONKEY JEWELLERY having to be steadied away from the heels of E MASTER passing the 550 Metres. He said after this MONKEY JEWELLERY was left flat-footed when the pace of the race quickened, but he was happy with the manner in which the horse quickened in the early part of the Straight. He added passing the 250 Metres he had to shift out away from the heels of LIGHTNING STEED to obtain clear running and after this MONKEY JEWELLERY continued to improve its position, however, he felt that the horse’s run ended over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of MONKEY JEWELLERY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of REGENCY DARLING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MONKEY JEWELLERY, HAPPY TOUR and E MASTER were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (97) THE YAN CHAI TROPHY (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

I AM POWER lifted its front feet off the ground at the start and consequently lost ground.
SUPER MAN began awkwardly.
After initially being ridden along for some distance in an endeavour to take up a forward position, BLOCKER DEE was steadied in an attempt to obtain cover after the 1000 Metres. However, BLOCKER DEE was unable to obtain cover and consequently raced very wide and without cover throughout the race.
Apprentice M F Poon (NUCLEAR POWER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 300 Metres he directed his mount to the outside of SUPER MAN where there was insufficient room to improve between that horse and RAGING BLITZKRIEG, resulting in NUCLEAR POWER making contact with RAGING BLITZKRIEG on a number of occasions, causing RAGING BLITZKRIEG to be hampered and NUCLEAR POWER to be checked. Apprentice Poon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 18 November 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 22 November 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Poon was fined $15,000. In electing to issue a charge of careless riding rather than improper riding, the Stewards found that rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight NUCLEAR POWER held a margin over RAGING BLITZKRIEG which entitled Apprentice Poon to explore shifting to the outside of SUPER MAN as at that time he was in a position to shift RAGING BLITZKRIEG out. In arriving at the charge of careless riding, the Stewards found that after RAGING BLITZKRIEG improved to be racing on terms with NUCLEAR POWER as that horse was attempting to shift out from behind SUPER MAN, Apprentice Poon should have desisted in his endeavours to direct his mount to the outside of SUPER MAN.
SUPER MAN also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.
After the race, it was found that STAR OF YAN OI was bleeding from the left nostril. An endoscopic examination of STAR OF YAN OI confirmed that horse to have bled.
RAGING BLITZKRIEG, GO PUBLIC and HARBOUR ALERT were sent for sampling.
<15/10/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPER MAN was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:8 (98) TSUEN FU HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1600 m

After being loaded into the barriers, GREEN ENERGY became very fractious, reared and got its right front leg caught over the adjoining barrier partition. GREEN ENERGY was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race and as such GREEN ENERGY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. As GREEN ENERGY was being removed from the barriers, CHARITY GO also became fractious, reared and initially got both front feet over the front gates with the horse’s left front leg in particular being caught over the front gates for some time. CHARITY GO was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CHARITY GO. Before being allowed to race again, both GREEN ENERGY and CHARITY GO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After this incident, Apprentice H T Mo (GREEN ENERGY) was examined by the Racing Medical Officer and stood down from his remaining race riding engagement.
ENRICHMENT was crowded for room on jumping between WORLD RECORD and CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO, both of which shifted ground. After this, WORLD RECORD was steadied to obtain cover.
After the 900 Metres, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT was left racing wide and without cover.
When racing tight close to the finishing line, the whip of S Clipperton (ENRICHMENT) became caught above the leg of G van Niekerk (WORLD RECORD).
A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT HASSLER and MR SO AND SO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO, VICTORY BOYS and WORLD RECORD were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (99) TSUEN LOK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1200 m

PICK NUMBER ONE shifted out on jumping and bumped BIG TIME BABY.
CALIFORNIA FORTUNE shifted in abruptly at the start, bumping heavily with PATCH BABY which became badly unbalanced and was checked and in doing so shifting in and bumping PERPETUAL TREASURE which also became unbalanced.
From a wide barrier, MEGA RED was steadied shortly after the start and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1100 Metres, FORTUNE BOOTH was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of CALCULATION.
BRAVO WATCHMAN got its head on the side and lay out making the turn after the 700 Metres.
EPTIMUM was also inclined to lay out in the middle stages.
In the early part of the Straight, FORTUNE BOOTH had some difficulty obtaining clear running.
Passing the 150 Metres, PATCH BABY was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of BIG TIME BABY.
Throughout the race, BEAUTY PRINCE travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA FORTUNE and PERPETUAL TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PICK NUMBER ONE, UGLY WARRIOR and CALCULATION were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (100) YEUNG UK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

CHUNG WAH SPIRIT was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, GOD OF DRAGON and ENFOLDING were crowded for room between SEBFIRE and INVINCIBLE FRESH which shifted out. After this, GOD OF DRAGON and ENFOLDING were shifted across behind runners.
Z Purton (COMFORT LIFE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LADY FIRST, causing that horse to be hampered and taken in across the rightful running of INTREPIC which clipped the heels of LADY FIRST and lost ground. Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 28 October 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 1 November 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Purton’s good race riding record.
Approaching the 900 Metres, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT commenced to travel keenly, shifted out and bumped HOME RUN.
Approaching the 600 Metres, SIR REDALOT and HOME RUN raced tight.
Passing the 600 Metres, HOME RUN became unbalanced when checked away from the heels of INVINCIBLE FRESH. At this time, SIR REDALOT was also awkwardly placed inside the heels of INVINCIBLE FRESH when racing tight outside INTREPIC.
Also passing the 600 Metres, INTREPIC commenced to travel keenly and was checked away from the heels of LADY FIRST.
Near the 250 Metres, NOBLE STEED was steadied when disappointed for running between RELENTLESS ME and SUN TOUCH. In this incident, RELENTLESS ME became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by NOBLE STEED. NOBLE STEED was then shifted to the outside of RELENTLESS ME approaching the 150 Metres to obtain clear running. NOBLE STEED was then momentarily shifted out away from the heels of LADY FIRST passing the 50 Metres.
Over the concluding stages, GOD OF DRAGON was awkwardly placed behind SUN TOUCH and consequently was not able to be tested.
Throughout the race, JOYFUL MOMENTS travelled wide and without cover.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the prima facie view that an incident had occurred over the concluding stages which cast sufficient doubt on whether INVINCIBLE FRESH should be declared the winner of the race. Subsequently G van Niekerk, the rider of second placed, LADY FIRST, lodged a formal protest/objection against INVINCIBLE FRESH alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the videos, the Stewards found that passing the 50 Metres INVINCIBLE FRESH shifted in marginally and made minor contact with LADY FIRST. However, having regard to the fact that INVINCIBLE FRESH came from behind LADY FIRST in the early part of the Straight and improved to the outside of that horse and as G van Niekerk, who was using the whip in the right hand, was not impeded in his riding out of that horse, the Stewards were not satisfied to the requisite degree that had the minor contact not occurred LADY FIRST would have finished in front of INVINCIBLE FRESH. Therefore the protest/objection was overruled and weighed-in declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SEBFIRE had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of INTREPIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NOBLE STEED, INVINCIBLE FRESH and LADY FIRST were sent for sampling.

General

1.

Races 9 and 10 were each put back 10 minutes.

2. 10 October 2018 Happy Valley Racemeeting

a. Race 7 (89)

The Stewards today questioned Apprentice C Wong regarding the disappointing performance of KEEP MOVING. He said KEEP MOVING, which was up in grade in this race, was not able to travel as comfortably as it did last start due to the pace of the race being, in his opinion, quicker than it was when the horse was successful in Class 3 at its last start. He said KEEP MOVING came off the bridle after the 500 Metres and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

b. Race 8 (90)

When questioned regarding the performance of GOOD BEAUTY, U Rispoli stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden in a forward position. He said after beginning only fairly GOOD BEAUTY was then badly crowded for room which resulted in the horse being much further back in the field than has been intended. He said he then rode GOOD BEAUTY along in the early stages to see whether the horse may be able to obtain a more forward position given his instructions, however, despite being ridden along, GOOD BEAUTY did not show any early speed. He said passing the winning post on the first occasion he steadied GOOD BEAUTY with a view to possibly obtaining a trailing position behind THE JUDGE, however, he became aware that ARCADA and IRISH VEGA improved their position inside GOOD BEAUTY and for this reason he was not able to shift in. He said this resulted in GOOD BEAUTY having to travel three wide throughout the race albeit the horse was able to have cover throughout. He added GOOD BEAUTY did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and as far as 800 Metres from the finish came off the bridle, resulting in him having to ride the horse along in an attempt to maintain its position behind HAPPY SPIRIT. He said GOOD BEAUTY did not respond to his riding and after being taken wider after the 500 Metres when horses improved to his inside, GOOD BEAUTY did not finish off the race. He further stated that although GOOD BEAUTY was obliged to race further back in the field and was three wide at its first time of asking at Happy Valley, nonetheless the horse was disappointing in that it came under pressure so far from the finish and then did not respond to his riding.

3. Omission from Racing Incidents Report of 10 October 2018 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 8 (90)

Near the 1250 Metres, IRISH VEGA was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT HONOURABLE.
