Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, DAN EXCEL lifted its front feet off the ground and began awkwardly.
When being steadied from a wide barrier in order to be taken across behind runners in the early stage, XTENSION got it head up on a number of occasions.
CALIFORNIA MEMORY had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
REAL SPECIALIST was held up for clear running until near the 300 Metres.
MILITARY ATTACK was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 250 Metres.
Approaching the 200 Metres, XTENSION was checked away from the heels of DAN EXCEL. Then after this, XTENSION continued to be awkwardly place close to the heels of DAN EXCEL and near the 150 Metres was again checked away from the heels of that horse which, when giving ground, shifted out marginally.
Near the 50 Metres, DAN EXCEL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of AKEED MOFEED.
For the majority of the race, PURE CHAMPION travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding his riding of AKEED MOFEED in the early part of the Straight, D Whyte stated that as the horse hung in badly at its most recent start, he anticipated that that may again be the case. He said for this reason he placed pressure on his left rein in the early stages of the Straight so as to be prepared should the horse again hang in. He said however that unlike at its last start, AKEED MOFEED today shifted out in the early part of the Straight which allowed GOLD-FUN to improve its position to the inside of AKEED MOFEED. He said that AKEED MOFEED continued to lay out under pressure in the Straight which was in contrast to its first up run this season. He added after the race he advised Trainer R Gibson to consider applying blinkers to AKEED MOFEED as, in his opinion, the horse is not racing genuinely. D Whyte was advised that his explanation would be noted, however, he must ensure that, wherever possible, he rides his mounts in a competitive manner.
After the race, J Moreira reported that DOMINANT was not striding out comfortably in the Straight and weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of DOMINANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, DOMINANT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
