COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:
STARSPANGLEDBANNER was trained by Leon Corstens in Australia, and landed G1 Caulfield Guineas and Oakleigh Plate with Daniel Nikolic on board. He was purchased by Coolmore and under Aidan O'Brien’s handling afterwards. After settled in Ireland, STARSPANGLEDBANNER claimed Golden Jubilee Stakes and July Cup with Johnny Murtagh in the saddle and made him became a champion sprinter in both European and Australia. He joined the Coolmore’s stallion roster after retirement but he was sent to second tier stud farm due to his low pregnancy rate. However, his next generations brought some surprise to Coolmore with victories among Royal Ascot races and STARSPANGLEDBANNER made his return. As of now, 25 runners won the black type contests including four-time G1 winner STATE OF REST. CALIFORNIA SPANGLE as his representative in HK. His fee in 2022 is EUR€35,000.
NORDIC DRAGON was sold at HKD$ 7 million in 2022 Hong Kong International Sale which is the second highest record of the sale. STARSPANGLEDBANNER’s is now welcomed by HK racing industry while most of them are precocious, versatile and able to handle both turf and dirt. His dam RELY ON ME was trained by Andrew Balding with two wins at 1200M while most dam family members could handle mile or upper in distance. The bay gelding should be fine to handle 1400M to 1600M in future.
