Racing Incident Report
MASTER OF FORTUNE was slow to begin and then was crowded by YOUNG VICTORY which shifted out.
DARCI JOY (A Badel) jumped awkwardly, shifted in slightly and bumped BORN THE SAME DAY which shifted out. A short distance later, DARCI JOY was then checked when crowded by JOYFUL CHAMPION which shifted in abruptly. A Badel stated that after being crowded at the start, he was then obliged to race back in the field.
Shortly after the start, JOYFUL GENIUS was crowded between LOOKING COOL and RIGHT AS RAIN which shifted in.
LOOKING COOL over-raced throughout the early stages and was left racing wide and without cover after the 800 Metres.
Approaching the 700 Metres, BORN THE SAME DAY was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT AS RAIN.
RIGHT AS RAIN had some difficulty obtaining clear running making the Home Turn and approaching the 200 Metres was reluctant to shift to the outside of LOOKING COOL to improve into clear running when inclined to lay in.
The performance of CALL ME MIGHTY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CALL ME MIGHTY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of CALL ME MIGHTY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
After the race, K C Leung (GOLDEN WARSTEED) reported that his intention was to hold a handy position with cover. He added that when he was caught wide in the early stages, he allowed GOLDEN WARSTEED to stride forward and lead to avoid racing wide. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN WARSTEED immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of GOLDEN WARSTEED, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN WARSTEED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, H Bentley (SUPERB MOVE) stated that whilst he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to hold a forward position, SUPERB MOVE was disappointing when asked for an effort in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SUPERB MOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
