Race:1 (424) CITI PRIORITY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 2000 m

FULL OF CHANCES was crowded for room on jumping between ISHVARA and SWOT WINDICATOR, both of which shifted ground. After making contact with FULL OF CHANCES, ISHVARA shifted in and bumped BRING IT ON.
From the outside barriers, LE PANACHE and HAPPY ROCKY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FULL OF CHANCES was steadied away from the heels of CLEMENT LEGEND (K Teetan) which shifted in. K Teetan was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 1500 Metres, BRING IT ON got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SWOT WINDICATOR.
Near the 550 Metres, CHATER THUNDER and SWOT WINDICATOR raced tight.
Near the 50 Metres, AMAZING AGILITY was shifted out from behind CLEMENT LEGEND which shifted out under pressure.
When questioned regarding his riding of AMAZING AGILITY after the 1200 Metres, H N Wong stated that he was asked to shift the horse away from the rail at some stage of the race to ensure that it was able to be brought to the outside of runners to make its finishing run. He said in the lead up to the 1200 Metres he had been racing on the rail inside FULL OF CHANCES which was following CLEMENT LEGEND. He said after the 1200 Metres it appeared as though FULL OF CHANCES was not travelling well as the horse drifted out marginally and he felt that there was an opportunity for AMAZING AGILITY to shift away from the rail and take FULL OF CHANCES wider which would allow AMAZING AGILITY the opportunity to take a trailing position behind CLEMENT LEGEND, a horse which he considered to be a strong chance in the race. He said although he was marginally behind FULL OF CHANCES at this time, he felt that he was in a position to be able to take that horse wider without having to place it under undue pressure. He said therefore after the 1200 Metres he commenced to shift away from the rail and raced tight inside FULL OF CHANCES approaching and passing the 1100 Metres. He said this resulted in AMAZING AGILITY and FULL OF CHANCES bumping near the 1000 Metres and also afforded LE PANACHE the opportunity to improve its position on the rail inside AMAZING AGILITY. He added when FULL OF CHANCES continued to maintain its position behind CLEMENT LEGEND, this resulted in AMAZING AGILITY losing ground near the 900 Metres when unable to maintain its position between LE PANACHE and FULL OF CHANCES. H N Wong further stated that, in retrospect, he had been premature in shifting away from the rail given his instructions and this had resulted in him losing his position and allowing LE PANACHE the opportunity to improve inside AMAZING AGILITY and gain an advantage over that horse. H N Wong was told that whilst the Stewards accepted that he had endeavoured to comply with his instructions by shifting AMAZING AGILITY out at this time, given that it occurred so far from the Home Turn and that the field was relatively spread out at that stage, his decision to shift AMAZING AGILITY away from the rail had been too premature. He was told to ensure that he rides his mounts such that they are given every opportunity to finish off their races without encountering unnecessary interference whilst always complying with his instructions if circumstances permit.
ISHVARA lost its left front plate after the race.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY ROCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CLEMENT LEGEND, GARLIC YEAH and LE PANACHE were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (425) CITIGOLD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1000 m

On leaving the Parade Ring, KING’S TROOPER became fractious and made heavy contact with a rail, resulting in N Callan being dislodged without incident. After being remounted, KING’S TROOPER then proceeded to the Start without further incident. On arrival at the Start, KING’S TROOPER was examined by the Veterinary Officer and after the necessary consultations found that horse to be suitable to race.
CAPTAIN FANTASTIC (S de Sousa), which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected, began awkwardly and made contact with the outside gate, resulting in the horse losing ground. S de Sousa stated that when CAPTAIN FANTASTIC bumped the outside gate, his left leg was caught between the horse and the gate, causing him to be inconvenienced throughout the race. S de Sousa was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
TRUST ME began awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in TRUST ME losing ground when checked away from the heels of BULLISH BROTHER which was bumped and taken out by TAKINGUFURTHER.
Approaching the 300 Metres, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE was steadied and shifted to the inside of LET’S COME BACK after being disappointed for running between that horse and HAPPY COOPERATION.
Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, TRUST ME was shifted in a number of horses in an attempt to obtain clear running. TRUST ME was held up for clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres and then when being directed to the outside of MY CHANCE passing the 200 Metres, MY CHANCE shifted out, resulting in TRUST ME racing tight outside MY CHANCE, shifting out and inconveniencing ARRIBA ARRIBA.
Passing the 200 Metres, LET’S COME BACK was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SHINING ACE which shifted in. SHINING ACE, which was racing greenly, then shifted out a number of horses passing the 150 Metres, inconveniencing HAPPY COOPERATION.
When questioned regarding the performance of KING’S TROOPER, N Callan stated that whilst the horse was fractious leaving the Parade Ring, he did not believe he could use this as an excuse for the horse’s performance as KING’S TROOPER proceeded to the Start well. He said unlike the most recent time when KING’S TROOPER was due to race, the horse was well behaved in the barriers and travelled well in the early stages in a forward position. He said the manner in which KING’S TROOPER travelled today replicated the manner in which the horse barrier trialed, particularly its most recent trial when it had performed very well. He said however KING’S TROOPER went from travelling well to coming off the bridle near the 500 Metres and subsequently failed to finish off the race. He added whilst KING’S TROOPER is immature at this early stage of its racing career, nonetheless it was very disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of KING’S TROOPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KING’S TROOPER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KING’S TROOPER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ARRIBA ARRIBA at the request of Trainer W Y So. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ARRIBA ARRIBA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of CAPTAIN FANTASTIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
A veterinary inspection of TAKINGUFURTHER immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor cut to the inside of the right hind fetlock.
KING’S TROOPER, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE and TRUST ME were sent for sampling.

A veterinary inspection of COMPASSION STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of COMPASSION STAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, COMPASSION STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

FIRST RESPONDER began only fairly.
THE ABRAXAS was hampered on jumping by AMAZING CHOCOLATE which shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of THE ABRAXAS which was also crowded for room inside AEROHAPPINESS (J Moreira) which began awkwardly and shifted in. AEROHAPPINESS lost its left front plate a short distance after the start. A veterinary inspection of AEROHAPPINESS immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained an overreach wound to the inside of the left front heel. After the race, J Moreira stated that, in his opinion, the disappointing performance of AEROHAPPINESS could be attributed to this incident at the start. He said he expected AEROHAPPINESS to take up a forward position easily in the early stages, however, he had to ride his mount along for some distance to be able to clear runners to its inside to obtain a position one horse off the rail after the 900 Metres. He said, in his opinion, the injury sustained by AEROHAPPINESS at the start accounted for the horse’s lack of speed in the early stages and then not being able to finish off the race. He added whilst AEROHAPPINESS was not obviously lame after the race, he believed that the injury sustained by the horse was sufficient to explain its failure to close off. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that THE ABRAXAS had sustained an overreach wound to the inside of the left front heel.
From a wide barrier, VILLA FIONN was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 700 Metres, HARD PROMISE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE ABRAXAS.

He said in the early stages he rode KA YING STAR along to clear runners to his inside with the intention of leading. He said however that MISSION TYCOON, which was drawn wider than KA YING STAR, showed more early speed than his mount and after shifting in to race close to the rail after the 1400 Metres he believed he would have had to make considerable use of KA YING STAR to maintain the position inside MISSION TYCOON which was travelling much stronger than KA YING STAR. He added as the race was being run at a steady tempo in the early stages, he allowed MISSION TYCOON to cross KA YING STAR and obtained a trailing position behind that horse near the 1300 Metres.

He said he was reluctant to use the whip on the horse as it continued to lay in. He said at the 200 Metres he directed XIANG YIN to the inside of KA YING LEGEND and then near the 150 Metres to the inside of RELENTLESS ME, however, he was unable to ride his mount out over the final 100 Metres due to it being awkwardly placed close to the heels of PICKEN.
