Throughout the race, SKY TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

C Schofield (THE SHOW) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of ORIENTAL ELITE, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. C Schofield was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Sha Tin on Wednesday, 1 July 2020. As such, C Schofield is eligible to resume race riding on Thursday, 2 July 2020. In addition, Jockey Schofield was fined $50,000. Passing the 100 Metres, PLAY WISE was checked away from the heels of FOCUS which was giving ground.
V Borges was spoken to regarding his riding out of that horse over the final 50 Metres.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FOCUS, K Teetan stated that it was intended for the horse to take up a forward position in the early stages and then he was to steady his mount in order to allow STARLIT KNIGHT, which was anticipated would take up the lead, to cross FOCUS and provide him with cover. He said after riding his mount positively from a wide barrier to take up a forward position, he was able to cross runners to his inside to race on the rail near the 1300 Metres. He said he immediately steadied his mount in the hope that STARLIT KNIGHT would continue to improve to his outside, however, when STARLIT KNIGHT remained racing to the outside of FOCUS, this resulted in his mount not being able to obtain cover. He said when travelling in the lead without cover, FOCUS travelled too keenly and would not relax. He said when STARLIT KNIGHT improved its position to be racing on terms with FOCUS after the 600 Metres, he was required to ride his mount along to hold his position as it was too late a stage in the race to allow STARLIT KNIGHT to cross FOCUS. He said FOCUS immediately came under heavy pressure and after staying on reasonably rounding the Home Turn then gave ground in the early part of the Straight and weakened noticeably over the latter stages. He added whilst FOCUS was disappointing, in his opinion, the horse’s performance could be attributed to the fact that it would not relax in the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of FOCUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FOCUS, which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FOCUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, Apprentice K H Chan explained that after being slow to begin, PLAY WISE was obliged to race at the back of the field and due to the circumstances of the race was not able to improve its position when required. He said although PLAY WISE was checked passing the 100 Metres, the horse was beaten at this time. A veterinary inspection of PLAY WISE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KING DRAGON, SMILING CITY and STARLIT KNIGHT were sent for sampling.

He said after the 200 Metres the horse came under heavy pressure and then gave ground noticeably over the concluding stages. He added that, in his opinion, ALL FOR ST PAUL’S had difficulty in seeing out the distance of tonight’s race at this stage of its career and he recommended to connections that they consider dropping the horse back in distance in its future starts. A veterinary inspection of ALL FOR ST PAUL’S immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL CHEERS and HUMBLE STEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

V Borges (WE THE SOUTH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 50 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, thereby directing FORZA ANGEL in, causing that horse to shift in further and tighten the running of WILD WEST WING and EVERBRAVE which were both checked. V Borges was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Sha Tin on Sunday, 12 July 2020. As such, V Borges is eligible to resume race riding on Monday, 13 July 2020. In addition, Jockey Borges was fined $27,500. In assessing the monetary penalty issued to Jockey Borges, the Stewards took into consideration that after being directed in by WE THE SOUTH, FORZA ANGEL then shifted in away from that horse.
Near the 50 Metres, K C Leung (EVERBRAVE) dropped his whip.
Throughout the race, SPACE travelled wide and without cover.

CALIFORNIA TURBO was consequently shifted out to relieve the tightening to MOST BEAUTIFUL. WON BALL, which was following MOST BEAUTIFUL, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Passing the 250 Metres, PING HAI GALAXY was shifted out away from the heels of CZARSON to obtain clear running.
After the 200 Metres, CALIFORNIA TURBO had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Near the 50 Metres, CALIFORNIA TURBO was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ISLAND SHINE.
Over the concluding stages, MOST BEAUTIFUL raced tight inside THE RUNNER and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
For the majority of the race, HIGHLAND FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that it was intended for SKY DARCI to be ridden behind the leaders as it was anticipated that the horse would have sufficient early speed to cross runners to its inside, in particular FANTASTIC FEELING and CALIFORNIA TURBO. He said in the early stages FANTASTIC FEELING was hard ridden to maintain its position to the inside of SKY DARCI which resulted in him having to ride SKY DARCI along for some distance to clear that horse and to avoid racing unnecessarily wide. He said after being able to cross FANTASTIC FEELING near the 1050 Metres, SKY DARCI was left racing three wide and without cover and therefore he had to continue to ride his mount forward to clear CZARSON to its inside. He said when THE RUNNER handed up to SKY DARCI after racing inside CZARSON, this resulted in SKY DARCI racing in the lead which was further forward than had been intended.
HIGHLAND FORTUNE and SKY DARCI were sent for sampling.
