Apprentice K H Chan (RED ZOFFANY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 900 Metres he directed his mount inwards when not clear of THE ONE, resulting in that horse being severely checked and being taken in across the rightful running of WONDER BRAHMA which was also severely checked. GREEN ENVY, which was following THE ONE, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of that horse and shifted out, resulting in KA YING BRILLIANCE being taken wider. KWAI CHUNG ELITE was also inconvenienced in consequence. After the 600 Metres, MOMENTUM GALAXY was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 500 Metres, MOMENTUM GALAXY lay in towards the heels of FARM BUMPER, resulting in MOMENTUM GALAXY having to be directed out away from the heels of that horse.

A veterinary inspection of FARM BUMPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MOMENTUM GALAXY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WINS ALL, WILD WEST WING and TRAVEL DATUK were sent for sampling.

After being left racing wide at the 900 Metres, GALLANT CROWN was steadied to obtain cover behind ORIENTAL ELITE approaching the 800 Metres. When being shifted across behind ORIENTAL ELITE, GALLANT CROWN was awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse passing the 800 Metres.
Approaching the 600 Metres, WINNING WAYS was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn near the 600 Metres, NOBLE MAN raced in restricted room inside HERCULES which got its head on the side and lay in away from WINNING WAYS despite the efforts of its rider.
ORIENTAL ELITE made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Approaching the 100 Metres, HERE COMES TED shifted out and brushed SPRINT FORWARD.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that he had ridden HERCULES on a number of occasions in its track work since its last start success and that work had been good. He said based on the quality of the horse’s track work, he anticipated that HERCULES would race well tonight. He said after being able to obtain a forward position in the early stages without having to be pressured, HERCULES travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages. He said after briefly racing keenly approaching and passing the 600 Metres, he shifted HERCULES to the outside of SPRINT FORWARD rounding the Home Turn into clear running, however, HERCULES did not pick up as it did last start. He added, despite being ridden out in the Straight, HERCULES finished off the race only fairly, however, after the race was making an abnormal breathing noise which the horse had not done at its previous start or in its work. Mr C H Yip, the trainer of HERCULES, stated that given that HERCULES had worked well since its last start success, he also anticipated that it would perform well tonight. He confirmed that after the race HERCULES was making a significant abnormal breathing noise which, in his opinion, may have explained the horse’s failure to finish off the race as well as anticipated. He added also that the track had been firmer at its last start when successful which the horse may have appreciated given that it was run in faster time than tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of HERCULES immediately following the race found that horse to have a continuous epiglottic entrapment. Mr Yip advised the Stewards that given the breathing noise that HERCULES was making after the race and the veterinary report, it is his intention to add a tongue tie to the horse in its track work with a view to considering whether to add this gear at its future starts.
A veterinary inspection of NOBLE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HERCULES, HERE COMES TED and SPRINT FORWARD were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (108) LUNG FU SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

EIGHT TRIGRAMS and HARMONY N HOME bumped at the start.

STANLEY PARK shifted in at the start and inconvenienced GREEN REIGN.
From the outside barriers, CHATER PINS and XPONENTIAL were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the turn approaching the 1000 Metres, HARMONY N HOME and LE TERROIR raced tight.
Passing the 300 Metres, GREEN REIGN was directed to the inside of LOVING A BOOM to obtain clear running.
Throughout the race, HELLO BEAUTY and THE RUNNER travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, K C Leung stated that he was instructed to ride FALCON TURBO in about midfield or slightly in advance of midfield if possible. He said after beginning well, HARMONY N HOME, which was drawn immediately inside FALCON TURBO, was hard ridden to obtain a forward position and therefore in the early stages he shifted his mount across behind that horse and obtained a trailing position behind LE TERROIR after the 1100 Metres. He said, despite being ridden along for some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, LE TERROIR was not able to maintain its positon inside HARMONY N HOME which resulted in HARMONY N HOME being able to shift in front of LE TERROIR after the 800 Metres and which resulted in FALCON TURBO racing further back than had been intended. He added after shifting his mount in a number of horses in the early part of the Straight, FALCON TURBO finished off the race strongly over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection of HARMONY N HOME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LOVING A BOOM, LE TERROIR and FALCON TURBO were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (109) MOUNT DAVIS HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1800 m

TANGMERE was crowded for room on jumping between XANTHUS and TASHIDELEK, both of which shifted ground.
From wide barriers, ABOVE, TANGMERE and NAMJONG PLUS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TANGMERE was crowded for room between STIMULATION which shifted out away from the heels of FLASH FAMOUS and NAMJONG PLUS which got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ABOVE. This resulted in TANGMERE being awkwardly placed behind STIMULATION and passing the winning post on the first occasion being shifted to the inside of that horse.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FLASH FAMOUS failed to muster speed and approaching the 1700 Metres was steadied to obtain cover.
Near the 1300 Metres, XANTHUS was left racing wide and without cover.
After the 1000 Metres, FLASH FAMOUS was awkwardly placed behind DELIGHTFUL LAOS.
Passing the 500 Metres, CLEMENT LEGEND became unbalanced when momentarily crowded between WEALTHY DELIGHT and XANTHUS.
Rounding the Home Turn, STIMULATION was awkwardly placed behind XANTHUS which was giving ground.
Close to the finishing line, CLEMENT LEGEND shifted in towards the heels of TASHIDELEK, requiring its rider to straighten his mount.
After the race, K Teetan (DELIGHTFUL LAOS) stated that after beginning only fairly, he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible, however, DELIGHTFUL LAOS settled in a midfield position. He said after travelling only fairly in the middle stages, DELIGHTFUL LAOS was one-paced after the 600 Metres. He said although his mount momentarily raced tight inside WEALTHY DELIGHT passing the 200 Metres, DELIGHTFUL LAOS was finishing off the race only fairly at that time. He added whilst DELIGHTFUL LAOS had been successful at Happy Valley previously, he believed that the horse may be better suited on the bigger Sha Tin track and conveyed this advice to connections. A veterinary inspection of DELIGHTFUL LAOS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, M Chadwick stated that after being able to obtain a good position in the early stages trailing the leader, WEALTHY DELIGHT was not able to quicken when the pace of the race increased near the 500 Metres. He said WEALTHY DELIGHT came under heavy pressure and then was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of TANGMERE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NAMJONG PLUS, TASHIDELEK and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.
<15/10/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>DELIGHTFUL LAOS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. DELIGHTFUL LAOS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DELIGHTFUL LAOS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:8 (110) HIGH WEST HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1650 m

INSAYSHABLE shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ALPHA HEDGE, resulting in INSAYSHABLE becoming unbalanced and losing ground.
From wide barriers, AMAZING ONE PLUS and ENJOYING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
NOT USUAL TALENT was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FLYING QUEST raced tight inside ENRICHMENT which was crowded for room inside GREEN LUCK (J Moreira) which shifted in. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Then near the 1400 Metres, ENRICHMENT was steadied away from the heels of GREEN LUCK after being awkwardly placed behind that horse. ENRICHMENT continued to be awkwardly placed behind GREEN LUCK for some distance.
SOLAR WAI WAI travelled wide and without cover until the 900 Metres Metres at which stage the horse was ridden forward to obtain the lead approaching the 700 Metres.
Near the 450 Metres, BEAR AGAIN raced tight outside BUDDIES as that horse attempted to improve to the outside of SOLAR WAI WAI. This resulted in BEAR AGAIN becoming unbalanced. When BUDDIES was steadied approaching the 400 Metres when unable to improve between SOLAR WAI WAI and BEAR AGAIN where there was insufficient room, PRECIOUSSHIP, which was following, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse and shifted in marginally, resulting in FLYING QUEST (M F Poon), which was attempting to improve into very tight running inside PRECIOUSSHIP, being severely checked and losing a significant amount of ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that PRECIOUSSHIP did not shift out sufficiently for a horse to comfortably improve its position to its inside, no further action was taken, however, M F Poon was advised to be mindful of the amount of room that is available when improving into tight running. When FLYING QUEST was checked, ENJOYING was shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in AMAZING ONE PLUS having to shift out abruptly away from ENJOYING.
Passing the 150 Metres, AMAZING ONE PLUS and GREEN LUCK bumped.
When questioned regarding the performance of NOT USUAL TALENT, C Schofield was of the opinion that the tempo of the race did not suit his mount. He said due to the modest tempo NOT USUAL TALENT commenced to over-race passing the 1000 Metres and got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed behind INSAYSHABLE. He said NOT USUAL TALENT was then left racing wide and without cover after the 700 Metres and when the pace of the race quickened shortly after this, NOT USUAL TALENT came off the bridle and then did not finish off the race. He added whilst NOT USUAL TALENT was disappointing in tonight’s race, he believed the circumstances of the race did not suit his mount. A veterinary inspection of NOT USUAL TALENT immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NOT USUAL TALENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALPHA HEDGE, C Y Ho stated that after obtaining a good position behind the speed in the early stages, ALPHA HEDGE was left flat-footed when the pace of the race increased near the 700 Metres. He said due to being flat-footed, ALPHA HEDGE was not able to maintain its position inside INSAYSHABLE and that horse was able to shift in to race in front of ALPHA HEDGE approaching the 600 Metres. He said ALPHA HEDGE came under heavy pressure passing the 500 Metres and then did not finish off the race. He said he was of the view that the class of tonight’s race compared to that against which it raced at its last start when successful was significantly stronger and this, in his opinion, accounted for the horse’s failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of ALPHA HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FLYING QUEST immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
BUDDIES and SOLAR WAI WAI were sent for sampling.
