C Y Ho (SWEETLY BABY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 700 Metres he directed his mount in when not clear of RIGHT HONOURABLE, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room between SWEETLY BABY and FAITHFUL TRINITY, to be hampered and lose ground. After initially shifting out away from the heels of U W BROTHER at the entrance to the Straight, PEAK TO PEAK was shifted to the inside of that horse after the 300 Metres when disappointed for running between U W BROTHER and CARRY THE DIAMOND which shifted in.
Passing the 50 Metres, PACKING CHAMPION raced tight inside WAYFOONG CHARMER which lay in under pressure.
When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was asked to ensure that he obtained cover on OVERSUBSCRIBED. He said, from barrier 7, it was felt that there were a number of horses that would be ridden for speed which were better drawn than OVERSUBSCRIBED and as that horse had previously proved difficult to settle when ridden aggressively in the early stages, he was asked to shift OVERSUBSCRIBED across behind runners in the early stages and attempt to improve his position closer to the rail. He said in accordance with his instructions he steadied OVERSUBSCRIBED shortly after the start and was able to shift across behind WAYFOONG CHARMER in the early stages before improving approaching and passing the 800 Metres to obtain a midfield position. He said after obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight OVERSUBSCRIBED quickened well, however, its run ended over the concluding stages.
When questioned, Z Purton (CARRY THE DIAMOND) stated that he was instructed to obtain a position with cover in about 4th or 5th if possible from the outside barrier. He said CARRY THE DIAMOND began very well and he commenced to shift his mount across with HONEY BEE. He said after the 900 Metres there was a line of horses inside CARRY THE DIAMOND and he believed that he would have had to restrain the horse too heavily to obtain a trailing position and in any event to obtain cover he would have had to come back a long way and therefore he felt that it was a better option to allow CARRY THE DIAMOND to improve its position after the 800 Metres and cross runners to his inside to race outside the lead. He said after the 700 Metres CARRY THE DIAMOND lay out away from WILD WEST WING and after this did not travel comfortably. He added CARRY THE DIAMOND came under pressure at the entrance to the Straight and then gave ground noticeably over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of CARRY THE DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WILD WEST WING and U W BROTHER were sent for sampling.

After the 200 Metres, BULLISH BROTHER and FANTASTIC FABIO made contact.
Passing the 100 Metres, K Teetan (FLYING PHOTOS) dropped his whip.
After the race, M Chadwick (FANTASTIC FABIO) stated that after having to ride his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position, FANTASTIC FABIO was hampered by HAPPILY FRIENDS making the turn near the 1000 Metres. He said he then continued forward of that horse to prevent being carried unnecessarily wide and after obtaining a trailing position behind BULLISH BROTHER, FANTASTIC FABIO was only one-paced in the early part of the Straight before giving ground over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC FABIO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BULLISH BROTHER, WON BALL and GINTOKI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the 150 Metres, BEAUTY SPARK shifted out under pressure.
After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of KEEP YOU WARM. He said the horse enjoyed a good run behind the leader STORM WARNINGS and at the entrance to the Straight obtained clear running when that horse shifted out. He said KEEP YOU WARM did not quicken and then over the latter stages of the race was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of KEEP YOU WARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MERIDIAN GENIUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KEEP YOU WARM, MIG ENERGY and BEAUTY SPARK were sent for sampling.

M L Yeung (FLYING QUEST) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SOLAR WAI WAI, causing that horse to be unnecessarily hampered and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 6 December 2020 and to expire on Thursday, 10 December 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Yeung was fined $12,500.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SOLAR WAI WAI, K Teetan stated that after enjoying a good run in the early and middle stages, he elected to shift his mount to the outside of MAGNIFICENT passing the 300 Metres. He said SOLAR WAI WAI lay in and was reluctant to improve outside that horse and therefore at the 250 Metres he elected to shift to the inside of MAGNIFICENT to obtain clear running. He said SOLAR WAI WAI then continued to lay in approaching and passing the 200 Metres and was staying on only fairly until being crowded for room near the 100 Metres. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR WAI WAI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Race:9 (202) FU CHEONG HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 3 1200 m

GUY DRAGON and AMARA WIN began only fairly.

From the outside barrier, CHIKORITA was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After being steadied in the early stages to obtain cover, MEHBOOB was left racing wide and without cover after the 1000 Metres.
Approaching the 700 Metres, CHIKORITA commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MEHBOOB.
When questioned, H N Wong stated that FLYING ON THE TURF was fractious in the barriers and kicked out on a number of occasions. He said after SCORES OF FUN became fractious, FLYING ON THE TURF continued to kick out and did so as the start was effected which resulted in FLYING ON THE TURF losing ground. He said it was intended for the horse to be ridden behind the leaders, however, FLYING ON THE TURF’s barrier manners resulted in the horse having to race much further back in the field. He said in the early and middle stages FLYING ON THE TURF travelled only fairly when having to be ridden back in the field and then after the 500 Metres his saddle shifted to the left which placed him at a significant disadvantage. He added his saddle continued to shift rounding the Home Turn and because of this he was not able to ride FLYING ON THE TURF along and the horse was not able to be tested. After viewing the videos which verified Jockey Wong’s evidence both in respect of his mount kicking out as the start was effected and his saddle shifting significantly to the left, the Stewards took no further action. A veterinary inspection of FLYING ON THE TURF immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of EXCEED THE STARS and XPONENTIAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GUY DRAGON and SCORES OF FUN were sent for sampling.
