Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SWOT TROOPERS WIND was awkwardly placed between TAILOR MADE which was being steadied in an endeavour to obtain cover behind REGENCY GEM and VIRTUS STAR which shifted out.
In the early stages, KA FORTUNE was left racing wide and without cover and then after the 1200 Metres was allowed to improve its position, however, continued to race wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres at which stage KA FORTUNE shifted in to race outside the lead.

Passing the 200 Metres, CENTENARY IBIS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of KA FORTUNE which shifted in. Then approaching the 100 Metres, CENTENARY IBIS was momentarily crowded for room between KA FORTUNE and NITRO EXPRESS (J Moreira) which shifted out before being corrected. Close to the finishing line, PRESIDENT STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MANNA FROM HEAVEN.

Race:5 (627) HATTON HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1650 m

SHADOW BREAKER began only fairly and then shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of DIVINE UNICORN.
From wide barriers, CHATER PINS, NUNCHUKS, GRAND POWER and DAZZLING FEELING were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 900 Metres, PIANO SOLO travelled keenly.
Rounding the Home Turn, SHADOW BREAKER was held up behind DIVINE UNICORN.
C Schofield was fined the sum of $5,000 for weighing in 2 lbs overweight on SHADOW BREAKER.
When questioned, C Schofield stated that he was asked to obtain a forward position on SHADOW BREAKER and obtain a trailing position behind the speed if possible. He said SHADOW BREAKER began only fairly and as there were a number of horses maintaining their positions inside SHADOW BREAKER in the early stages, he believed that he would have had to make too much use of his mount to clear those horses. He said he therefore elected shortly after the start to steady SHADOW BREAKER and obtain a trailing position behind KING DRAGON and PIANO SOLO which resulted in the horse racing further back in the field than had been intended.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that in the early stages he had to make more use of TOYCOON to cross KING DRAGON than he would have liked. He said it was not until passing the winning post on the first occasion that he was able to improve his position forward of that horse after which TOYCOON travelled satisfactorily. He said he had to shift out away from the heels of DIVINE UNICORN at the 500 Metres which was earlier than what he had hoped as that horse had come under heavy pressure. He said this resulted in TOYCOON having to make a more sustained run than anticipated which after the work that was done in the early part of the race resulted in the horse not finishing off the race as well as he had hoped. A veterinary inspection of TOYCOON immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TOYCOON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DIVINE UNICORN immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported and also to have sustained a minor laceration to the left hind heel. As this was the 4th occasion that DIVINE UNICORN had been reported to be a "roarer” following the race, the Stewards interviewed Mr W Y So, the trainer of DIVINE UNICORN, regarding this matter. Mr So undertook to liaise with his allocated stable veterinarian as well as Veterinary Officers from the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy before any decision is made on whether to enter the horse in future races. Before being allowed to race again, DIVINE UNICORN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of KING DRAGON immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
TOYCOON, FA FA and PEARL CHAMPION were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (628) BONHAM HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

SNAP FIT made the turn near the 1050 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and bumped JAZZ STEED.
In the early stages, BEAUTY RUSH travelled wide and without cover and after the 900 Metres commenced to improve its position to race outside the lead near the 700 Metres.
When questioned regarding his riding of STOICISM after the 500 Metres, H Bentley stated that he had been travelling behind TRIPLE TRIPLE which he anticipated would be able to take him into the race. He said passing the 400 Metres SPARKLING DRAGON commenced to improve its position around STOICISM and he did consider shifting to the outside of TRIPLE TRIPLE, however, as that horse was shifting to the outside of BEAUTY RUSH, he elected not to shift out as he felt that it would be in STOICISM’s best interests to save ground and improve inside TRIPLE TRIPLE. He said this resulted in SPARKLING DRAGON being able to improve its position around STOICISM rounding the Home Turn. He added after shifting to the inside of TRIPLE TRIPLE passing the 300 Metres, STOICISM was then held up for clear running behind BEAUTY RUSH passing the 200 Metres and he had to shift his mount abruptly away from the heels of that horse to obtain clear running between BEAUTY RUSH and TRIPLE TRIPLE. H Bentley was advised that whilst the Stewards were mindful that this was only the second occasion that he had ridden at Happy Valley, nonetheless, in the opinion of the Stewards, he had erred in not improving to the outside of TRIPLE TRIPLE passing the 400 Metres which would have afforded STOICISM clear running by not allowing SPARKLING DRAGON the opportunity to improve around STOICISM. He was told that, wherever circumstances permit, he should ride his horses in such a manner that they are afforded clear and uninterrupted running.
After the race, M F Poon stated that TRIPLE TRIPLE would not settle when racing without cover in the early and middle stages and it was not until after being crossed by BEAUTY RUSH after the 700 Metres that TRIPLE TRIPLE commenced to relax.
Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BEAUTY RUSH had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of TRIPLE TRIPLE, MEHBOOB and JAZZ STEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SNAP FIT and CALIFORNIA CONCORD were sent for sampling.

SIGHT HERO made the turn near the 1050 Metres awkwardly.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, EVER JOY, which was having its first race start tonight, got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of XPONENTIAL. Then after the 1000 Metres, EVER JOY continued to race greenly and passing the 950 Metres got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. A veterinary inspection of EVER JOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Passing the 600 Metres, DESTINE JEWELLERY momentarily raced tight inside GOOD BUDDY which got its head on the side and lay in.
Near the 250 Metres, EVER JOY shifted in and was momentarily awkwardly placed behind HAPPILY FRIENDS.
Passing the 200 Metres, XPONENTIAL raced tight outside SIGHT HERO which shifted out.
Close to the finishing line, GOOD BUDDY, which was closing the race off, was held up for clear running behind HERO STAR. When awkwardly placed behind HERO STAR, GOOD BUDDY then shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HAPPILY FRIENDS which became unbalanced. Consequently GOOD BUDDY was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Throughout the race, XPONENTIAL travelled wide and without cover.
K Teetan stated that after being ridden positively in the early stages to obtain the lead passing the 1000 Metres, JOLLY GOOD HEART would not relax and travelled too keenly. He said because of this JOLLY GOOD HEART was then not able to close off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of JOLLY GOOD HEART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STAR OF WUYI, HERO STAR and SIGHT HERO were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (630) BREEZY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1650 m

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, FARSHAD was slow to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied to obtain cover.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, VILLA FIONN commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FARSHAD.
Over the concluding stages, FARSHAD got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
Throughout the race, TURIN REDSTAR travelled wide and without cover.
K Teetan explained that as he was commencing to shift FARSHAD to the outside of TURIN REDSTAR to obtain clear running at the entrance to the Straight, his right foot slipped out of the stirrup iron which resulted in him becoming badly unbalanced which caused FARSHAD to also become unbalanced and shift back in behind TURIN REDSTAR and causing FARSHAD to be awkwardly placed behind that horse. He said passing the 300 Metres he was able to reposition his foot in the iron and immediately shifted FARSHAD to the outside of TURIN REDSTAR and into clear running.
After the race, Z Purton (ALPHA HEDGE) stated that, from the outside barrier, it was decided to ride the horse quietly in the early stages to obtain cover. He said prior to the race it was anticipated that the race would be run at a good tempo and it was felt that if use were to be made of ALPHA HEDGE in the early stages, the horse may be left racing wide. He said after shifting ALPHA HEDGE across behind runners, the race was run at a more moderate tempo than had been expected. A veterinary inspection of ALPHA HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BUNDLE OF DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HELENE WISDOM STAR and EXCEPTIONAL NICE were sent for sampling.

Approaching the 800 Metres, EIGHT TRIGRAMS was bumped and taken wider by NORDIC WELLSTAR which was taken out by ELON.
H T Mo (EIGHT TRIGRAMS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, resulting in NORDIC WELLSTAR and ELON racing unnecessarily tight inside EIGHT TRIGRAMS and outside FALCON TURBO and then approaching the 500 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavours to prevent his mount from shifting in which resulted in EIGHT TRIGRAMS bumping NORDIC WELLSTAR, causing NORDIC WELLSTAR to be taken across the rightful running of ELON which was checked. In the circumstances, H T Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 and to expire on Sunday, 9 May 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
Approaching the 50 Metres, HARRIER JET was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER AXIOM to continue improving.
