Race:1 (1) MOUNT PARKER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1400 m

VIVA POPCORN was slow to begin.
THIS IS CHARISMA, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, THIS IS CHARISMA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
SMART HUNTER began awkwardly.
From the outside barrier, FIGURES TWO was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
From wide barriers, DAZZLING FEELING and JOLLY FOREVER were also shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, SHANGHAI GRACE was slow to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
Passing the 1200 Metres, OFF THE REEL was steadied away from the heels of GENERAL TRUMP (B Shinn) which shifted in when not quite clear. B Shinn was advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, JUNGLE BLAZE raced in restricted room between GENERAL TRUMP and OFF THE REEL which shifted in. SHINEALOT and SMART HUNTER, which were following, were inconvenienced in consequence.
After the 700 Metres, SMART HUNTER lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ALL BEST FRIENDS.
Passing the 500 Metres, FIGURES TWO was awkwardly placed behind DAZZLING FEELING which was taken out by JOLLY FOREVER. After this, DAZZLING FEELING lay out away from JOLLY FOREVER, resulting in FIGURES TWO being inconvenienced.
SHINEALOT was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight.
At the 400 Metres, FORMULA EXCEL attempted to improve into tight running between OFF THE REEL and SHANGHAI GRACE which got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn. After brushing SHANGHAI GRACE shortly after entering the Straight, FORMULA EXCEL got its head on the side and lay in and was checked when disappointed for running between OFF THE REEL and SHANGHAI GRACE (C Wong) which shifted in. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that FORMULA EXCEL had not properly established running between OFF THE REEL and SHANGHAI GRACE and that FORMULA EXCEL had contributed to the incident by laying in, nonetheless C Wong was advised that even in difficult circumstances he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. THIS IS CHARISMA, which was following FORMULA EXCEL, was held up for clear running behind that horse in consequence. After the race, J Moreira stated that, in his opinion, FORMULA EXCEL’s failure to finish off the race was directly attributable to having to be checked near the 400 Metres. He said at this stage FORMULA EXCEL was travelling well and he believed that had the horse been able to obtain the run between OFF THE REEL and SHANGHAI GRACE, it would have finished in a better position. A veterinary inspection of FORMULA EXCEL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FORMULA EXCEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 350 Metres, SHINEALOT was steadied when disappointed for running between ALL BEST FRIENDS which shifted in marginally and SHANGHAI GRACE which shifted out marginally when commencing to give ground.
A veterinary inspection of DAZZLING FEELING immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
A veterinary inspection of THIS IS CHARISMA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FORMULA EXCEL, VICTORIOUS LEADER and VIVA POPCORN were sent for sampling.
<6/9/2021 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that JUNGLE BLAZE was found to have multiple limb lameness on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, JUNGLE BLAZE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:2 (2) LANTAU PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1000 m

GOOD VIEW CLARICO lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and stumbled a short distance later.
GREEN AEON was tightened for room on jumping between CALIFORNIA CONCORD and SUPER WIN DRAGON which shifted in.
Passing the 200 Metres, CALIFORNIA CONCORD was awkwardly placed when improving outside the heels of ROCK YA HEART which shifted out marginally under pressure. CALIFORNIA CONCORD then got its head on the side and lay out and near the 100 Metres was reluctant to improve to the inside of FIRST RESPONDER.
Passing the 100 Metres, Apprentice C L Chau (FIRST RESPONDER) dropped his whip.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER AXIOM immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER AXIOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER WIN DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPER AXIOM, FIRST RESPONDER and ROCK YA HEART were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (3) YI TUNG SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

SIGHT HERO shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of FANTASTIC FABIO which became unbalanced. In this incident, FANTASTIC FABIO shifted out and bumped THETA HEDGE.
WAH MAY LUCK, which began awkwardly, and LITTLE THUNDER were crowded for room on jumping between CASA DE FORCA and AMIGOS GIGGLE, both of which shifted ground.
From wide barriers, NIMBLE NIMBUS, GLORIOUS LOVER and BIZ POWER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
HAPPY TIME was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
When being steadied to obtain cover passing the 1100 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE got its head up and proved difficult to settle and then after the 800 Metres, when continuing to prove very difficult to settle, again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CASA DE FORCA.
THETA HEDGE travelled very keenly for some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres.
Passing the 900 Metres, SIGHT HERO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO.
After the 800 Metres, NIMBLE NIMBUS was left racing wide and without cover and then after the 700 Metres was taken wider again by WAH MAY LUCK which shifted to the outside of HAPPY TIME.
For a considerable distance in the early and middle part of the Home Straight, AMIGOS GIGGLE hung in and proved difficult to ride, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions. Then after the 150 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE, which continued to lay in despite the efforts of its rider, shifted in, resulting in LITTLE THUNDER being steadied away from the heels of that horse. After being corrected, AMIGOS GIGGLE (J Moreira) then shifted in approaching the 50 Metres, resulting in LITTLE THUNDER again being hampered. Because of this, LITTLE THUNDER was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages. J Moreira was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that AMIGOS GIGGLE had proved very difficult to manage in the Straight when laying in badly under pressure, nonetheless he must in future make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground even in difficult circumstances. The racing manners of AMIGOS GIGGLE were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMIGOS GIGGLE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
SIGHT HERO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO which shifted in near the 350 Metres. This resulted in SIGHT HERO being held up for clear running for a short distance.
Near the 250 Metres, PACKING VICTORY shifted out under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten.
C Wong (FANTASTIC FABIO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of CASA DE FORCA, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In the circumstances, C Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 12 September 2021 and to expire on Thursday, 16 September 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
After the race, C Schofield reported that after having some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight, SIGHT HERO finished off the race only one-paced over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of CASA DE FORCA immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CASA DE FORCA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PACKING VICTORY and AMIGOS GIGGLE were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (4) THE HKSAR CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 1 1200 m

WISHFUL THINKER was slow to begin .
As the start was effected, SPARKLING DRAGON bounded in the air and began very awkwardly and in doing so shifted out and bumped ELUSIVE STATE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
RATTAN shifted out at the start and bumped LUCKY PATCH.
BUDDIES shifted out on jumping and bumped SHINING ACE. Then from a wide barrier, SHINING ACE was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, CALIFORNIA RAD and NABOO ATTACK bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
Passing the 400 Metres, DUKE WAI raced tight inside LUCKY PATCH which lay in, resulting in both horses making contact.
Near the 50 Metres, RATTAN was shifted in away from the heels of CALIFORNIA RAD.
Throughout the race, LUCKY PATCH travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, A Badel stated that after beginning only fairly, he rode TOURBILLON DIAMOND along in the early stages to have the horse improve its position which included slapping it down the shoulder with the whip. He said despite riding TOURBILLON DIAMOND along, his mount was reluctant to maintain its position inside WISHFUL THINKER passing the 900 Metres. He said he then continued to ride his mount along in the middle stages and it was not until after shifting TOURBILLON DIAMOND to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight that the horse commenced to respond to his riding. He said after this TOURBILLON DIAMOND finished off the race strongly.
A veterinary inspection of AMAZING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SPARKLING DRAGON immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
NABOO ATTACK and LUCKY PATCH were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (5) KOWLOON PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

UNIVERSAL CROWN, which was noted to have blood in its mouth in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and found to be suitable to race.
SPEEDY DRAGON began only fairly.
VECTOR began only fairly and then shortly after the start lost ground when crowded for room between LUCKY PUZZLE which shifted in after being bumped by DAY DAY RICH and ZACIAN which was bumped by SUNNY SMILE. In this incident, LUCKY PUZZLE became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by VECTOR.
From the outside barriers, CENTENARY IBIS and ONE STEP AHEAD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1150 Metres, MANY GAINS was bumped by SPEEDY DRAGON which got its head on the side and lay in.
Passing the 1100 Metres, LUCKY PUZZLE, which was being shifted across behind runners to obtain cover, got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of ZACIAN.
R Maia (LUCKY MARYKNOLL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KWAI CHUNG ELITE, resulting in that horse being taken in onto SPEEDY DRAGON which was in turn taken in onto MANY GAINS which lost its running passing the 1000 Metres when unnecessarily crowded for room between SPEEDY DRAGON and UNIVERSAL CROWN. R Maia was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 and to expire on Monday, 27 September 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Maia was fined $10,000.
Passing the 900 Metres, ZACIAN commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of KWAI CHUNG ELITE which was being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover. In this incident, ZACIAN shifted in and bumped MANY GAINS which was taken in, resulting in VECTOR being inconvenienced. SUNNY SMILE, which was following ZACIAN, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. LUCKY PUZZLE, which was also following ZACIAN, was hampered and shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in CENTENARY IBIS being taken wider.
Rounding the Home Turn, ONE STEP AHEAD was awkwardly placed behind VECTOR. ONE STEP AHEAD was then shifted to the inside of VECTOR at the entrance to the Straight when disappointed for running between that horse and KWAI CHUNG ELITE.
UNIVERSAL CROWN had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
After the 400 Metres, SUNNY SMILE was eased away from the heels of ONE STEP AHEAD (J Moreira) which shifted in. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 200 Metres, UNIVERSAL CROWN was awkwardly placed behind DAY DAY RICH after being disappointed for running between that horse and ONE STEP AHEAD. Then passing the 200 Metres, UNIVERSAL CROWN was directed to the inside of DAY DAY RICH to obtain clear running. UNIVERSAL CROWN then raced tight inside the heels of DAY DAY RICH passing the 150 Metres when that horse shifted in marginally under pressure.
Throughout the race, FOX CHEUNGER travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of ZACIAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ZACIAN, LUCKY MARYKNOLL and SPEEDY DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (6) LIN FA SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1000 m

As the start was effected, KOWLOON EAST STAR bounded in the air and consequently lost ground.
SPICY SO GOOD shifted out at the start and bumped CORDYCEPS SIX.
E SPRINTER shifted out on jumping and bumped NERVOUS WITNESS.
G ONE EXCELLENT and GLENEALY GENERALS bumped at the start.
KOWLOON EAST STAR lost its left front plate in the early stages.
Passing the 800 Metres, GLENEALY GENERALS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of G ONE EXCELLENT.
Near the 550 Metres, E SPRINTER got its head on the side and lay out, resulting in SO AWESOME being crowded for room and taken out onto GLENEALY GENERALS which was also crowded for room when awkwardly placed close to the heels of G ONE EXCELLENT.
Passing the 400 Metres, SO AWESOME was crowded for room between GLENEALY GENERALS and E SPRINTER, both of which shifted ground.
G ONE EXCELLENT raced in restricted room after the 400 Metres outside FABULOUS EIGHT and after becoming unbalanced when crowded for room outside FABULOUS EIGHT passing the 300 Metres was then directed to the inside of that horse near the 200 Metres to obtain clear running. G ONE EXCELLENT was then shifted in away from the heels of GOODMANSHIP near the 50 Metres to continue improving.
After the 200 Metres, E SPRINTER, which was laying out, was shifted in away from the heels of WHO LOVES THE ACE which was giving ground.
A veterinary inspection of KOWLOON EAST STAR and WONDERFUL FANTASY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NERVOUS WITNESS and CIRCUIT SEVEN were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (7) YI TUNG SHAN HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1200 m

VOYAGE STAR shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in TELECOM CHEETAH being crowded for room inside TURQUOISE ALPHA which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by TELECOM CHEETAH.
SUNNY BABY and PRESIDENT’S CHOICE bumped at the start.
From a wide barrier, PACKING KINGDOM was steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, SUNNY BABY and PRESIDENT’S CHOICE raced tight between TURQUOISE ALPHA and LEAN LEGEND which at this stage was racing tight inside SMART WONGCHOY.
Near the 850 Metres, VIVA HUNTER was steadied away from the heels of VOYAGE STAR which got its head up when being checked away from the heels of TURBO POWER (Apprentice C L Chau). Apprentice Chau was told to ensure that he does not ease the tempo too quickly. After this, VOYAGE STAR travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind TURBO POWER.
At the 400 Metres, PACKING KINGDOM, LEAN LEGEND and SUNNY BABY were all hampered and taken wider by VIVA HUNTER (K C Leung) which shifted out to obtain clear running. K C Leung was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he must ensure that he exercises far more care than he did on this occasion when shifting ground so as not to cause unnecessary interference to other runners.
At the entrance to the Straight, TURQUOISE ALPHA was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of TOUCH FAITH when being shifted to the outside of that horse.
Approaching the 200 Metres, PRESIDENT’S CHOICE had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of TURQUOISE ALPHA.
Throughout the race, TOUCH FAITH travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of LEAN LEGEND immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of TOUCH FAITH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
VIVA HUNTER and VOYAGE STAR were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (8) MA ON SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1600 m

When parading, WINNING VOLATILITY became very fractious and after making contact with a rail flipped over. Acting on veterinary advice that WINNING VOLATILITY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING VOLATILITY will be required to undergo a satisfactory parade test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EL JEFE shifted out at the start and bumped COPARTNER ERA. After this, from the outside barriers, EL JEFE and COPARTNER ERA were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
In the early stages, CHEERFUL LEADER raced with its head on the side and lay out.
After the 950 Metres, EL JEFE shifted out and bumped BULLETPROOF. BULLETPROOF was then steadied after the 900 Metres to obtain cover behind EL JEFE.
Passing the 400 Metres, BEAUTY SPIRIT and EZRA raced tight as EZRA shifted to the outside of CROWN AVENUE to improve into clear running.
After the 400 Metres, COPARTNER ERA lay in and was initially reluctant to improve to the outside of EL JEFE.
Near the 50 Metres, COPARTNER ERA raced in restricted room between BULLETPROOF and JOY MASTER (K H Chan) which shifted out. When correcting JOY MASTER, K H Chan dropped his left rein.
Throughout the race, CROWN AVENUE travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of SHANGHAI DRAGON and COPARTNER ERA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FAST PACE, EZRA and BEAUTY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (9) SUNSET PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie worn by STAR PERFORMANCE was refitted.
When being loaded into the barriers, STAR PERFORMANCE threw its head up, making contact with the face of its rider, K Teetan. K Teetan was examined by the Chief Medical Officer who said in his opinion Jockey Teetan was suitable to fulfil his race riding engagement.
PRESENCE shifted out at the start, resulting in KASI FARASI being crowded for room inside FEARLESS FIRE.
NOBLE STEED began only fairly.
STAR PERFORMANCE shifted out at the start and bumped BEAUTY LEGACY.
From the outside barrier, HALL OF CHAMP was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
LINCOLN BRIGHT began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. When being shifted across behind runners, LINCOLN BRIGHT travelled keenly and approaching and passing the 1000 Metres continued to prove very difficult to settle when racing behind NOBLE STEED and BEAUTY LEGACY. Then near the 900 Metres, LINCOLN BRIGHT shifted in and bumped NOBLE STEED which became unbalanced.
At the 400 Metres, HALL OF CHAMP was awkwardly placed behind PRESENCE when shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
After the 100 Metres, STAR PERFORMANCE shifted in towards LUCKY FUN, resulting in K Teetan, the rider of STAR PERFORMANCE, having to stop riding and correct his mount.
Throughout the race, MISSION BRAVO travelled wide and without cover.
STAR PERFORMANCE and LUCKY FUN were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (10) TAI MO SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1400 m

MISTER SNOWDON, which proved reluctant to proceed into the saddling area, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race.
MR CROISSANT and HIGHLAND FORTUNE began only fairly.
ZEBROWSKI began only fairly and then shortly after the start raced tight inside the heels of MISTER SNOWDON which shifted in.
KILINDINI shifted out at the start and bumped MASTER MONTARO. Then from the outside barriers, KILINDINI and MASTER MONTARO were shifted across behind runners.
THE ROCK and ROMAN TURBO bumped on jumping.
Passing the 1000 Metres, REGENCY BO BO was left racing wide and without cover.
MASTER MONTARO travelled keenly after the 1000 Metres.
Near the 900 Metres, ZEBROWSKI, which was travelling keenly, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HIGHLAND FORTUNE.
After the 800 Metres, HIGHLAND FORTUNE was checked away from the heels of TELECOM FIGHTERS.
Rounding the Home Turn, MISTER SNOWDON and TELECOM FIGHTERS raced tight as MISTER SNOWDON shifted out from behind ROMAN TURBO which came under pressure when commencing to give ground.
At the entrance to the Straight, THE ROCK was bumped by HIGHLAND FORTUNE which shifted to the outside of REGENCY BO BO to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 100 Metres, ZEBROWSKI was directed to the inside of HIGHLAND FORTUNE to continue improving.
Close to the finishing line, HIGHLAND FORTUNE raced tight inside THE ROCK.
When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position on TELECOM FIGHTERS and it was available to him to either lead today’s race or obtain a trailing position. He said after allowing TELECOM FIGHTERS to stride forward in the early stages, he considered improving forward of MISTER SNOWDON which was racing to his inside, however, he was of the opinion that MISTER SNOWDON was holding its position without having to be ridden along and he felt that in order to clear MISTER SNOWDON he would have had to make some use of TELECOM FIGHTERS. He said when he became aware that ROMAN TURBO, from a wider barrier, was being ridden along to obtain a forward position, he was comfortable to allow TELECOM FIGHTERS to remain racing outside MISTER SNOWDON and then obtain a trailing position behind CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT which followed ROMAN TURBO across. He said after being crossed by ROMAN TURBO, the pace of the race slackened, however, up until this time the tempo had been steady enough for him to be comfortable to obtain a trailing position. Mr Y S Tsui, the trainer of TELECOM FIGHTERS, confirmed the instructions given to Jockey Chadwick and stated that he was satisfied with Jockey Chadwick’s decision not to contest the lead given the circumstances of the race in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection of E STAR immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”.
A veterinary inspection of MASTER MONTARO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ROMAN TURBO immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, ROMAN TURBO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and MISTER SNOWDON were sent for sampling.
