Race:1 (1) MOUNT PARKER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1600 m

FORTUNE PATROL and THIS IS CHARISMA began awkwardly.
WINNING STEED shifted in on jumping, resulting in CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO being taken in and brushing STAR OF GLORY.
Shortly after the start, RUN DES RUN was crowded for room between TURF BRILLIANT and MISTER MONTE. After this, RUN DES RUN and TURF BRILLIANT were steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier.
From a wide barrier, SUPERB DADDY was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After the 900 Metres, TURF BRILLIANT was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKY GEM which momentarily raced tight inside THIS IS CHARISMA.
Near the 650 Metres, SMART COUSIN was inconvenienced by STAR OF GLORY (Apprentice Y L Chung) which shifted out. Apprentice Chung was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. TURF BRILLIANT, which was racing outside SMART COUSIN, was inconvenienced in consequence.
RUN DES RUN made the Home Turn awkwardly.
THIS IS CHARISMA was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and when improving between STAR OF GLORY and SMART COUSIN approaching the 250 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STAR OF GLORY due to STAR OF GLORY and SMART COUSIN shifting a minimal amount of ground.
Approaching the 50 Metres, Apprentice Y L Chung briefly dropped his left rein.
After the race, K Teetan reported that REGENCY MASTER never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race and was a beaten horse a long way from the finish. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THIS IS CHARISMA and SMART COUSIN were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (2) KOWLOON PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

THE JOLLY shifted out at the start and bumped M M JOHNNY. M M JOHNNY was then crowded for room a short distance after the start between THE JOLLY and GENERAL TRUMP which shifted in.
FORTUNE HERO began awkwardly, shifted in and brushed the hindquarters of ZACIAN which also shifted out. FORTUNE HERO then shifted out and bumped MEDIC ELITE which also shifted in. This resulted in both FORTUNE HERO and MEDIC ELITE becoming unbalanced and losing ground.
THE GOOD DEAL shifted in at the start and inconvenienced SUNNY BABY. After this, SUNNY BABY was steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier.
Approaching the 1050 Metres, THETA HEDGE raced tight inside the heels of STRIVE FOR GLORY.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, ZACIAN got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.
Approaching the 900 Metres, GENERAL TRUMP, which was being steadied to obtain cover, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of M M JOHNNY which shifted out.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, HANDSOME GUYS commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when racing close to the heels of GLORIFIED FIRE. After this, HANDSOME GUYS continued to race keenly and near the 550 Metres was hampered when attempting to improve into tight running between GLORIFIED FIRE and M M JOHNNY. THE JOLLY, which was following HANDSOME GUYS, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Passing the 550 Metres, GENERAL TRUMP raced close to the heels of M M JOHNNY.
Rounding the Home Turn, THE JOLLY (L Hewitson) became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside HANDSOME GUYS which got its head on the side and lay in. After the race, L Hewitson reported that THE JOLLY travelled strongly into the race up until when this incident occurred. He said after this THE JOLLY came off the bridle and then did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of THE JOLLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUNNY BABY and MEDIC ELITE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 300 Metres, FORTUNE HERO raced tight outside SUNNY BABY which shifted out from behind THE GOOD DEAL to obtain clear running.
For the majority of the race, DASHING GENIUS travelled wide and without cover.
H N Wong (TAKINGUFURTHER), who was resuming race riding today after a significant period of time due to injury, was reprimanded for using the whip on a horse out of contention.
THETA HEDGE lost its left front plate after the race.
M M JOHNNY, STRIVE FOR GLORY and GLORIFIED FIRE were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (3) YI TUNG SHAN HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1200 m

SON PAK FU was crowded for room on jumping between MELBOURNE HALL and UNIVERSAL CROWN, both of which shifted ground.
VICTOR THE WINNER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped GALLANT WAKING which was then crowded for room inside SUCCESS FIGHTER.
ONE FOR ALL began only fairly and then was crowded for room between COUNTRY TREASURE and THE HULK which was taken out by BIRDSVILLE which shifted ground after being bumped by BLISSFUL LIFE. In this incident, COUNTRY TREASURE became unbalanced when bumped by ONE FOR ALL.
From wide barriers, THE HULK, SUPER RED DRAGON and HAPPY HERO were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, MIGHTY STAR shifted in and bumped UNIVERSAL CROWN which became unbalanced.
Passing the 1000 Metres, MELBOURNE HALL raced tight inside SON PAK FU which got its head on the side and lay in away from VICTOR THE WINNER.
Passing the 800 Metres, BLISSFUL LIFE commenced to over-race and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GALLANT WAKING. BIRDSVILLE, which was following, also got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BLISSFUL LIFE in consequence.
Passing the 700 Metres, GALLANT WAKING shifted out away from the heels of SON PAK FU and after this travelled wide and without cover. Then passing the 550 Metres, GALLANT WAKING raced tight outside SON PAK FU which shifted to the outside of SUCCESS FIGHTER.
Approaching the 200 Metres, SON PAK FU lay in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUCCESS FIGHTER.
When questioned, L Currie stated that it was intended for COUNTRY TREASURE to be ridden in a forward position today and either lead the race or race outside the leader. He said after being fractious in the barriers COUNTRY TREASURE became unbalanced when bumped shortly after the start and did not show as much early speed as was anticipated. He said it felt as though he would have had to make considerable use of COUNTRY TREASURE to obtain a forward position and given the manner in which the horse was travelling in the early stages, it would not have sufficient speed to be able to cross runners to its inside which would likely have left COUNTRY TREASURE racing wide. He added that when racing further back in the field than had been intended, COUNTRY TREASURE did not travel strongly at any stage of the race and then in the Straight did not finish the race off and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of COUNTRY TREASURE immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor injury to the mouth with the presence of blood.
A veterinary inspection of BIRDSVILLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, it was noted that SUPER RED DRAGON was displaying signs of heat stress. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER RED DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
VICTOR THE WINNER and THE HULK were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (4) THE HKSAR CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 1 1200 m

SKY FIELD began only fairly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
LUCKY PATCH began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped KEEP YOU WARM.
After the 1100 Metres, DUKE WAI was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUCKY SWEYNESSE.
Near the 950 Metres, TRILLION WIN became unbalanced when crowded for room inside KEEP YOU WARM which was taken in by LUCKY SWEYNESSE which was then shifted out to relieve the crowding.
S De Sousa (LUCKY SWEYNESSE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KEEP YOU WARM, resulting in that horse having to be checked and shifting in across the rightful running of TRILLION WIN which was severely checked when crowded for room inside KEEP YOU WARM. SUPER WEALTHY, which was following TRILLION WIN, was severely checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. In this incident, LUCKY PATCH, DUKE WAI and SKY FIELD were also hampered in consequence. Having regard to the interference suffered by SUPER WEALTHY, TRILLION WIN and KEEP YOU WARM together with the degree of carelessness exhibited by Jockey De Sousa, he was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 September 2022 and to expire on Thursday, 6 October 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).
After this, LUCKY PATCH remained awkwardly placed close to the heels of KEEP YOU WARM for some distance.
Near the 650 Metres, DUKE WAI shifted in marginally, resulting in SUPER WEALTHY being crowded for room.
After the 600 Metres, DUKE WAI shifted out away from the heels of KEEP YOU WARM and brushed LUCKY PATCH which in turn shifted out and inconvenienced SKY FIELD.
Passing the 500 Metres, SKY FIELD was bumped by LUCKY PATCH which shifted out from behind WINNING DREAMER to obtain clear running.
DUKE WAI was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 300 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of KEEP YOU WARM and SUPER WEALTHY to obtain clear running.
Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, LUCKY SWEYNESSE lay in under pressure. LUCKY SWEYNESSE then continued to lay in over the concluding stages.
Passing the 200 Metres, DUKE WAI raced tight inside SUPER WEALTHY which shifted in. DUKE WAI was then held up for clear running behind HARMONY AND RICH and approaching the 100 Metres shifted to that horse’s outside which resulted in SUPER WEALTHY being inconvenienced.
A veterinary inspection of SKY FIELD and WINNING DREAMER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of TRILLION WIN immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
LUCKY SWEYNESSE and CAMPIONE were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (5) LIN FA SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1000 m

QUORUM was slow to begin.
JACK WIN and LUCKY BANNER began awkwardly.
AMAZING ROCKY shifted in at the start and bumped SMART LEADER which in turn shifted in and bumped BULB PRINCE.
Shortly after the start, UNITED WE STAND was brushed by GLORY BO BO which shifted out.
KA YING SPIRIT lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
KOWLOON EAST STAR lay in for the majority of the race.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BANNER and BULB PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KA YING SPIRIT and AMAZING ROCKY were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (6) YI TUNG SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

SMILING MOON shifted in at the start and brushed BEAUTY TYCOON. BEAUTY TYCOON then shifted in away from SMILING MOON and bumped AMAZING VICTORY.
ROYAL AGILITY shifted out on jumping and bumped the hindquarters of SCIENCE PATCH.
TURBO POWER shifted out at the start and bumped REGENCY BO BO. After this, REGENCY BO BO and TURBO POWER were shifted across behind runners from wide barriers.
Also from the outside barrier, RIGHT HONOURABLE was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After being crossed by SMILING MOON in the early stages, BEAUTY TYCOON commenced to travel very keenly and for some distance after the 1000 Metres got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SMILING MOON. BEAUTY TYCOON then shifted out approaching the 900 Metres and inconvenienced AMBITIOUS HEART.
SMILING MOON lost its left hind plate at the 950 Metres.
Approaching the 750 Metres, AMBITIOUS HEART momentarily raced in restricted room between SCIENCE PATCH and BEAUTY TYCOON (A Badel) which shifted out when continuing to over-race. BEAUTY TYCOON then continued to travel keenly and was very awkwardly placed behind SMILING MOON throughout the middle stages. After the race, A Badel stated that, in his opinion, the manner in which BEAUTY TYCOON would not settle today was the reason for the horse’s failure to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY TYCOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Near the 150 Metres, STARRY NIGHT was inconvenienced by SCIENCE PATCH (H N Wong) which shifted in when not quite clear. H N Wong was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, SCIENCE PATCH and ADEFILL travelled wide and without cover.
BEAUTY TYCOON, AMAZING VICTORY and BRAVE DREAMS were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (7) LANTAU PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

BRILLIANT LIFE (K C Leung), which was fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly and lost ground. After the race, K C Leung expressed concern regarding the action of BRILLIANT LIFE. A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT LIFE immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT LIFE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SOLAR WINDS was steadied on jumping to obtain cover.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, INFINITE POWER failed to muster speed.
Passing the 1000 Metres, SOLAR WINDS was bumped by INFINITE POWER which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.
Passing the 900 Metres, SOLAR WINDS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of VILLA FIONN.
Between the 350 Metres and the 200 Metres, E LEGEND and MR MAJESTIC raced tight as MR MAJESTIC attempted to improve into tight running between E LEGEND and SUPER FORTUNE.
Throughout the race, DROPS OF GOD travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of DROPS OF GOD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ORIENTAL SMOKE and E LEGEND were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (8) MA ON SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

On arrival at the barriers, PERFECT TO GREAT, which made contact with a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
PERFECT TO GREAT began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
STUNNING IMPACT began only fairly and then was slow to muster speed in the early stages.
From the outside barriers, RAINBOW LIGHT and KING TOURBILLON were steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.
LEATHER VANGUARD was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After the 1200 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle. Then after the 1000 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was left racing very wide and without cover and after the 900 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead at the 600 Metres.
After the 1200 Metres, EXUBERANT travelled keenly when obtaining cover behind WOODFIRE BRO.
Near the 950 Metres, WOODFIRE BRO was steadied away from the heels of BLISSFUL STAR (S De Sousa) which shifted in when not properly clear. EXUBERANT, which was following WOODFIRE BRO and continuing to travel keenly, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. S De Sousa was reprimanded and told to ensure that he gives sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
After the 800 Metres, KING TOURBILLON got its head up when awkwardly placed behind EXUBERANT.
In the Straight, WOODFIRE BRO lay in and proved difficult to ride and near the 50 Metres shifted in, resulting in WOODFIRE BRO being awkwardly placed outside the heels of BLISSFUL STAR. Because of this, WOODFIRE BRO was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race as it normally would be.
Close to the finishing line, MAXIMIZE HEART shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BLISSFUL STAR.
After the race, C L Chau reported that, in his opinion, LEATHER VANGUARD was not suited by the slow tempo of today’s race in the middle stages. He said LEATHER VANGUARD was not able to quicken when the pace of the race increased near the 600 Metres which resulted in the horse having to be hard ridden rounding the Home Turn. He added that although LEATHER VANGUARD was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to make up ground in the Straight, he believed the circumstances of today’s race was the principal reason for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of LEATHER VANGUARD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MAGIC SUPREME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE had sustained a cut to the left hock.
WIDE BLUE YONDER, ETERNAL BLOOM and STUNNING IMPACT were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (9) TAI MO SHAN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1400 m

MASTER DELIGHT shifted out at the start and bumped GOOD LUCK FRIEND.
From a wide barrier, JUMBO FORTUNE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT failed to muster speed and for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.
When being shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier, MASTER MONTARO proved very difficult to settle and near the 1100 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MASTER DELIGHT. Then passing the 1100 Metres, MASTER MONTARO, which was continuing to prove very difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of MASTER DELIGHT which shifted in. In this incident, MASTER MONTARO stumbled. As the Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was primarily as a result of MASTER MONTARO’s racing manners, no further action was taken.
Passing the 800 Metres, JUMBO FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of THE GOLDEN SCENERY which itself was awkwardly placed behind SPIRITED EXPRESS.
Rounding the Home Turn, MASTER DELIGHT raced tight between CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and THE GOLDEN SCENERY (L Ferraris) which shifted out. Then passing the 400 Metres, THE GOLDEN SCENERY shifted out away from the heels of SHINING GEM which was taken out by SPIRITED EXPRESS, resulting in MASTER DELIGHT being steadied and shifting to the inside of THE GOLDEN SCENERY. When being shifted out away from the heels of SHINING GEM, THE GOLDEN SCENERY bumped CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT. L Ferraris was told what whilst the Stewards accepted that the movement from SHINING GEM in advance of THE GOLDEN SCENERY had played a significant role in this incident, nonetheless in the lead up to this incident MASTER DELIGHT’s racing room was restricted as a result of THE GOLDEN SCENERY shifting out, therefore he was told to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
At the 300 Metres, PACKING VICTORY shifted out and inconvenienced SPIRITED EXPRESS. SPIRITED EXPRESS and PACKING VICTORY then brushed approaching the 200 Metres and again approaching the 100 Metres. Then over the concluding stages, PACKING VICTORY got its head on the side and lay out and inconvenienced SPIRITED EXPRESS.
Approaching the 100 Metres, SHINING GEM was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SPIRITED EXPRESS which shifted out marginally.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PACKING VICTORY at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOOD LUCK FRIEND and SAUVESTRE were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (10) SUNSET PEAK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

BEAUTY CHAMP shifted out at the start and bumped GALLANT CROWN which in turn shifted out, resulting in PRECISE EXPRESS striking the heels of GALLANT CROWN and stumbling shortly after the start.
ENCOUNTERED shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced NEVER TOO SOON. After this, NEVER TOO SOON was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
STORM LEGEND and TEXAS MOON bumped at the start.
TEXAS MOON, CAPTAIN WIN and LIGHTNING BOLT were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover from wide barriers.
After travelling a short distance, TEMPEST EXPRESS was momentarily crowded for room inside HAPPY DAILY which was bumped by BEAUTY CHAMP which shifted in when proving difficult to settle.
After the 1000 Metres, STORM LEGEND was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 850 Metres, KING’S CAPITAL was awkwardly placed behind GALLANT CROWN.
Passing the 500 Metres, KING’S CAPITAL raced tight outside NEVER TOO SOON which improved to be racing outside PRECISE EXPRESS.
Passing the 350 Metres, NEVER TOO SOON and PRECISE EXPRESS bumped.
Approaching the 150 Metres, TEMPEST EXPRESS shifted in and bumped ENCOUNTERED. TEMPEST EXPRESS was then directed out to relieve the crowding to ENCOUNTERED.
After the 100 Metres, KING’S CAPITAL was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CAPTAIN WIN which shifted in.
HAPPY DAILY was unable to obtain clear running at any stage of the Straight and because of this was not able to be tested.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NEVER TOO SOON, Z Purton stated that his mount travelled strongly into the Home Straight and he anticipated that it would finish the race off well. He said in the early part of the Straight he had some difficulty obtaining clear running and it was not until GALLANT CROWN quickened near the 300 Metres that he was able to obtain clear running. He said after this NEVER TOO SOON did not quicken as it did at its most recent start last season when successful, however, he was of the opinion that the horse would benefit from today’s race given that it did not barrier trial in the lead up to the race. A veterinary inspection of NEVER TOO SOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of PRECISE EXPRESS and TEXAS MOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NEVER TOO SOON, GALLANT CROWN and TEMPEST EXPRESS were sent for sampling.

Trainer D A Hayes was fined the sum of $5,000 following REGENT GLORY (E323) incorrectly carrying the saddle cloth assigned to ORIENTAL SMOKE (E467) on the Small All Weather Track during track work at Conghua Racecourse on 1 August 2022.
