2 3 DR WELL (CD165) S Dye -- Broke well from wide draw and niggled along to race in a forward position 2 wide through to straight. Responded well when asked 400 M out and took lead near the 300 M but was overhauled by the winner inside final 100 M.
3 12 SUNNY DESERT (CB346) A Delpech -- Broke fairly and soon settled in midfield 2 wide. After the 600 M steadily edged out to a 4 wide position on straightening to obtain clear running. Made up steady ground inside final 200 M to grab 3rd closing stages.
4 5 MAIN ATTRACTION (CB218) Y T Cheng B- Began fairly from wide draw and steadily eased to a rearward position on rail through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out and made up good ground inside final 250 M to miss the 3rd place by a narrow margin.
5 10 FUJI SUNRISE (CD100) M Zahra B Jumped fairly from widest and was steadily eased back to the rear section around 3 wide with cover. Switched to the widest on straightening to obtain clear running. Made up steady ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
6 4 HARRY HARRY (CD019) O Doleuze -- Soon raced in midfield or worse 2 wide. Made little headway at home bend and switched out on straightening to find clear running. Under pressure 400 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M.
7 2 TELECOM TYCOON (CC039) G Schofield V Jumped fairly and niggled along to race 1 to 2Ls off pace on rail. Switched to 3 wide on straightening to obtain clear running. Only able to run on evenly when asked 350 M out and slightly weakened in final stages.
8 7 ALAKAZAM (CC061) W M Lai B/TT1 Slow to begin and steadily recovered to race in worse than midfield on rail. Near the 700 M was checked to avoid heels. Under pressure 400 M out but only able to run evenly to the line.
9 13 GOLD DIGGER (CD101) K H Chan V1/TT Broke fairly and ridden along to take up running on rail through to straight. Was headed soon after the 400 M mark and only able to keep on same pace. Further weakened inside final 100 M.
10 8 COUNTRY DRAGON (BV294) M W Leung -- On jumping bounded in the air and then knuckled. Ridden along to recover lost ground and raced in midfield on rail to straight. Found nothing when asked 350 M out and further weakened inside final 200 M.
11 9 TAIJI SPIRIT (CD185) R Fradd SR/TT Slowly away and soon settled in a rearward position around 2 wide through to straight. Unable to make any impression when asked 350 M out.

13 14 THE RICH MAN (BS130) S K Sit B On jumping got its head up and rider became badly unbalanced. Raced at the tail of the field around 2 wide to straight. Failed to show any running in the straight.
