He said when SECRET INGREDIENT jumped awkwardly and lost ground it settled further back in the field than expected. He said in the early stages SECRET INGREDIENT raced keenly and near the 800 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid TALENTS CHAMPION. He added, in his opinion, SECRET INGREDIENT did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

L Hewitson stated that he was given the option of holding a forward position depending on how his mount jumped. He said when RUSSET GLOW commenced well he elected to go forward but was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added the wide run contributed to RUSSET GLOW giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

11 4 GOLDEN FORTUNE (K500) 14 A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly. Near the 900 Metres was steadied and shifted out to avoid SPARKLE AND GOLD when that runner was being retired from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood at the right nostril. An endoscopic examination conducted on GOLDEN FORTUNE found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the blood in the nostril was determined to be not coming from the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled.
6 5 ONLY U (J037) 9 K C Leung Bumped on jumping. Hampered leaving the 900 Metres when taken wider by THE ALL ROUNDER.
12 6 GENERAL SMART (K138) 6 Z Purton Jumped only fairly. Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid SPARKLE AND GOLD when that runner was being retired from the event. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between SPEEDY TRIDENT and WINNING CIGAR, both of which shifted ground slightly. Z Purton stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned M Chadwick stated that near the 900 Metres he felt the horse’s action change and when he became concerned that there was something amiss he retired the horse from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLE AND GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

10 2 E HO HO (L119) 14 C Y Ho Near to 200 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by ALSONSO which shifted out. Over the concluding stages was steadied when crowded by STORM MIRROR which shifted out when being steadied to avoid CAP LINER.
13 3 BEAUTY THUNDER (J299) 7 P N Wong (-7) Apprentice P N Wong stated that after shifting out shortly after the start and making contact with ALSONSO it then took some time for the horse to obtain an on-pace position. She said in the Home Straight BEAUTY THUNDER did not respond to her riding and gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

14 5 TACTICAL VICTORY (K521) 11 H T Mo (-2) Jumped only fairly. H T Mo reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TACTICAL VICTORY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TACTICAL VICTORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 6 GRAND NOVA (J323) 4 A Atzeni A Atzeni stated that his mount travelled well during the early stages but when placed under pressure in the Home Straight did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
4 7 RAPID PHANTOM (L204) 2 H Y Yuen (-10) Shifted out on jumping and made contact with WINALOT. Over the final 200 Metres lay out. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to MASTER PAYMENT which was shifting out.
7 8 STORM MIRROR (L179) 13 J Orman Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 850 Metres was steadied when crowded between CAP LINER and ALSONSO which shifted in when positioned close to ONESHOT. Near the 800 Metres STORM MIRROR was then crowded between CAP LINER and ALSONSO which was racing tight to the outside of BEAUTY THUNDER (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted out. Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care. STORM MIRROR then raced in restricted room between the 800 Metres and the 600 Metres between ALSONSO and CAP LINER and did not obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.
8 9 WINALOT (L197) 3 K C Leung Jumped awkwardly and then shortly after became unbalanced when crowded by RAPID PHANTOM which shifted out.

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W K Mo stated that the horse had performed satisfactorily at its first race start over the same course and distance. He said at its last start on 3 May 2026 the horse was disadvantaged by being interfered with at the 800 Metres and again near the 300 Metres and was also assisted today by the addition of sheepskin cheek pieces for the first time. 3 2 POSITIVE SMILE (J467) 4 M L Yeung Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by BROWNNEEDSFURTHER which shifted out. Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when endeavouring to improve between REAL GENTLEMAN and BROWNNEEDSFURTHER.
9 3 FLASHING FIGHTER (L281) 7 H Y Yuen (-10) Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her mount was fractious in the gates and whilst it was able to lead the event it did not travel well when in that position. She added in the Home Straight FLASHING FIGHTER failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. Trainer P F Yiu stated that the horse had pleased him leading into the race. He said, in his opinion, FLASHING FIGHTER did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions, particularly as it had not travelled well and dipped on a number of occasions during the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. The performance of FLASHING FIGHTER, a last start winner, was considered disappointing. Before being allowed to race again, FLASHING FIGHTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. 1 4 REAL GENTLEMAN (K534) 12 K C Leung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer K L Man stated that he had instructed Jockey K C Leung to go forward as he felt it was advantageous to hold an on-pace position today. He said, in his opinion, this was the principal reason for the horse’s improved performance and also it had appreciated the "Good to Yielding” track conditions, particularly as it had performed well on a similar surface in Ireland prior to being imported into Hong Kong. 10 5 GRACEFUL HEART (L207) 11 L Hewitson From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 900 Metres was hampered when it was steadied to avoid IMPENDING LEGACY which shifted out abruptly. Near the 700 Metres was steadied when crowded between EMERGING STAR and TRENDY RUSH which shifted out when racing keenly.
2 6 GROUPER (L233) 9 C L Chau (-2) Raced greenly under pressure in the Home Straight. Over the final 100 Metres lay out and proved difficult to ride out to the finish. Sent for sampling post-race.

Near the 700 Metres TRENDY RUSH was then checked to avoid BROWNNEEDSFURTHER, resulting in TRENDY RUSH then shifting out and causing IMPENDING LEGACY to be steadied. TRENDY RUSH continued to race ungenerously and near the 500 Metres shifted in when being steadied to avoid POSITIVE SMILE.
5 9 BROWNNEEDSFURTHER (K325) 3 J Orman As the pace steadied leaving the 800 Metres raced keenly and was steadied to avoid AMAZING FUN.
11 10 IMPENDING LEGACY (K486) 5 R Kingscote Proved difficult to load. Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with EMERGING STAR. After the 900 Metres hung out towards EMERGING STAR and as a result was checked. Near the 700 Metres was steadied to avoid TRENDY RUSH. Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. The barrier and racing manners of IMPENDING LEGACY were also considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, IMPENDING LEGACY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 11 EMERGING STAR (K390) 6 H T Mo (-2) Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid CONRAD PATCH (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised to ensure that she is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A Atzeni stated that the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance was that it did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. Trainer M Newnham concurred with the views offered by Jockey Atzeni. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

A Badel stated that after settling behind midfield his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

9 4 CHILL BUDDY (K469) 3 H Y Yuen (-10) Jumped awkwardly. Near the 900 Metres was checked to avoid THRIVING BROTHERS when that runner lost ground when it shifted in and away from EFFORTLESS WIN (C L Chau) which shifted in. Whilst the Stewards found that THRIVING BROTHERS shifting in and away from EFFORTLESS WIN was the main reason for the incident Jockey Chau was advised to exercise more care. Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of ACE CHAMPION. Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her mount did not travel well throughout the event and changed stride on a number of occasions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

14 8 WATCH LEGEND (L313) 11 K Teetan Jumped only fairly. K Teetan stated that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, was stirred up prior to the event. He said when WATCH LEGEND commenced to give ground over the concluding stages he eased it down when he felt there may be something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WATCH LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of METRO POWER to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with STRAIGHT TO GLORY. Near the 150 Metres raced tight between METRO POWER and STRAIGHT TO GLORY which lay out. Prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer D J Hall viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against STRAIGHT TO GLORY being declared the winner due to SPARKLING FELLOW racing tight to the outside of STRAIGHT TO GLORY near the 150 Metres. When Mr Hall declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds, having regard to the margin of ¾ length between the two horses at the finish weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer C H Yip stated that the horse was disadvantaged at its last start over 2000 Metres when the early and middle stages were being run outside of standard time. He said this resulted in SMART AVENUE not being able to make up ground in the Home Straight. He added today SMART AVENUE was advantaged by the race being run at a more genuine pace and also may have appreciated the addition of visors to the horse’s gear. Sent for sampling post-race.
