A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have blood at the right nostril. An endoscopic examination conducted on GOLDEN FORTUNE found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the blood in the nostril was determined to be not coming from the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled.

12 6 GENERAL SMART (K138) 6 Z Purton Jumped only fairly. Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid SPARKLE AND GOLD when that runner was being retired from the event. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between SPEEDY TRIDENT and WINNING CIGAR, both of which shifted ground slightly. Z Purton stated that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from that position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

She said in the Home Straight BEAUTY THUNDER did not respond to her riding and gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, TACTICAL VICTORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 800 Metres STORM MIRROR was then crowded between CAP LINER and ALSONSO which was racing tight to the outside of BEAUTY THUNDER (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted out. Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care. STORM MIRROR then raced in restricted room between the 800 Metres and the 600 Metres between ALSONSO and CAP LINER and did not obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W K Mo stated that the horse had performed satisfactorily at its first race start over the same course and distance. He said at its last start on 3 May 2026 the horse was disadvantaged by being interfered with at the 800 Metres and again near the 300 Metres and was also assisted today by the addition of sheepskin cheek pieces for the first time. 9 3 FLASHING FIGHTER (L281) 7 H Y Yuen (-10) Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her mount was fractious in the gates and whilst it was able to lead the event it did not travel well when in that position. She added in the Home Straight FLASHING FIGHTER failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. Trainer P F Yiu stated that the horse had pleased him leading into the race. He said, in his opinion, FLASHING FIGHTER did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions, particularly as it had not travelled well and dipped on a number of occasions during the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. The performance of FLASHING FIGHTER, a last start winner, was considered disappointing. Before being allowed to race again, FLASHING FIGHTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer K L Man stated that he had instructed Jockey K C Leung to go forward as he felt it was advantageous to hold an on-pace position today. He said, in his opinion, this was the principal reason for the horse’s improved performance and also it had appreciated the "Good to Yielding” track conditions, particularly as it had performed well on a similar surface in Ireland prior to being imported into Hong Kong. After the 900 Metres was hampered when it was steadied to avoid IMPENDING LEGACY which shifted out abruptly. The barrier and racing manners of IMPENDING LEGACY were also considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, IMPENDING LEGACY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

J Orman stated that his mount, in his opinion, did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions and may be better suited by being stepped back up to 1200 Metres. 1 7 STRAIGHT TO GLORY (K340) 2 K C Leung Bumped near the 300 Metres. Lay out under pressure over the final 200 Metres. Near the 100 Metres K C Leung dropped his left rein for a number of strides. Sent for sampling post-race.
14 8 WATCH LEGEND (L313) 11 K Teetan Jumped only fairly. K Teetan stated that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, was stirred up prior to the event. He said when WATCH LEGEND commenced to give ground over the concluding stages he eased it down when he felt there may be something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WATCH LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

3 14 SPARKLING FELLOW (K175) 5 P N Wong (-7) Bumped at the start. Approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of METRO POWER to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with STRAIGHT TO GLORY. Near the 150 Metres raced tight between METRO POWER and STRAIGHT TO GLORY which lay out. Prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer D J Hall viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against STRAIGHT TO GLORY being declared the winner due to SPARKLING FELLOW racing tight to the outside of STRAIGHT TO GLORY near the 150 Metres. When Mr Hall declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds, having regard to the margin of ¾ length between the two horses at the finish weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

1 5 SMART AVENUE (K474) 1 Z Purton Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer C H Yip stated that the horse was disadvantaged at its last start over 2000 Metres when the early and middle stages were being run outside of standard time. He said this resulted in SMART AVENUE not being able to make up ground in the Home Straight. He added today SMART AVENUE was advantaged by the race being run at a more genuine pace and also may have appreciated the addition of visors to the horse’s gear. Sent for sampling post-race.

M Chadwick reported that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by MISTER DAPPER and as a result could not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
