4 3 BRAVE KNIGHT (CC131) C W Wong TT Steadied at 1100 M when about 8Ls off pace in rear bunch, headway to be 5Ls back still worse than midfield off home bend when 4-wide (widest of all), kept on fairly late, nearest at the finish.
5 4 CROWNED GEM (CE056) H W Lai -- Had the run of the race 2Ls off speed in 3rd or 4th until the 600 M when niggled along to lie up, under strong pressure thereafter and just lost out on place inside final 50 M.

7 11 SUNRISE LINING (CG030) Y T Cheng -- 3-wide with cover 5Ls off speed in midfield down the back, 4Ls down and a little short of running room from top of stretch to 200 M, might have finished closer with a clearer late passage.
8 1 GOLCONDA (CA111) W C Marwing -- Couldn't lead and soon left 3-wide no cover about 2Ls off speed in 3rd until home straight, over 2Ls down in 2nd at 200 M but petered out late.
9 5 SPLENDID SAILS (CG077) B Prebble -- Slow break, niggled along at 800 M when 6Ls down in 8th place, always outpaced by leading bunch.
10 7 CHERISHED (CB160) F Coetzee TT Niggled along early but soon outpaced and was over 8Ls down in rear at 800 M, always struggling but still made minor late ground past a few very weak rivals.
