2 5 FAST WINNER (CG140) D Whyte BO Landed on the back of the speed, 2-wide with cover, but when the pace went off near the 800 M, commenced to pull, shifted out and after racing wide and without cover was allowed to stride forward to lead along the fence near the 600 M.
3 11 NOBLE ZOOM (CC298) M L Yeung V Travelled on the speed, 2-wide without cover. Kept up a sound gallop right to the wire.
4 2 MATSUKAZE (CK150) C K Tong B Went forward and soon crossed to lead along the fence near the 900 M. Steadied the pace quickly midrace, then handed up to take a trailing position close to the 600 M. Kept on one paced in the run home.
5 9 TOP SPEED (CH019) H W Lai B Began evenly then drifted back to settle one off at the rear. Shifted out into clear running and closed off nicely (See Racing Incidents.)
6 10 OPTIC KING (CE139) S K Sit SR/CP/TT Settled 3 back the fence early, before being shuffled back 1 position near the 600 M. Kept up its workload right to the wire.
7 12 HAPPY SUNDAY (CE169) T H So B/TT Tracked the leader along the fence then settled 3 back by the 600 M. Kept to the rail in the straight but faded over the final stages.
8 6 GO STITCH (CK062) K C Leung B Caught wide early and was obliged to come back behind midfield to obtain cover, 3-wide. Never really quickened in the final stretch.
9 13 ACTUARIAL TALENT (CJ028) W Pike V/XB Raced towards the tail of the field but coursed wide and hung out on the circle. Never a factor.
10 7 WITHALLMYHEART (CE268) J Lloyd TT Travelled with the backmarkers, 2 deep with cover. Copped a check near the 800 M, and never fully recovered from that point on.
11 4 WINNER (CK159) W C Marwing -- Raced close to midfield, 2-wide with cover. Was a beaten horse by the 400 M.
12 3 MY SMARTIE (CJ139) K W Leung B- Raced behind midfield, 1 off with cover. Struggled in the run home.
13 14 MAXIMUM CHARM (CJ056) M W Leung SR-/B Settled towards the rear along the paint. Failed to close off.
14 8 TELECOM LUCKY STAR (CK025) C W Wong TT Began very awkwardly settling at the rear of the field. Failed to pass another runner for the major part of the race.
