2 12 SWEETIE (CB036) H W Lai B/TT In a forward position early but was squeezed back to midfield 1200 M. Kept near midfield and swung out on straightening for its run. Strong rally in the straight but just failed.
3 7 GLORIOUS RHYTHM (CC163) E Saint-Martin B Checked out of the gates and was niggled to a forward position. Stalked leader back straight and was a length down on straightening. Took the lead briefly inside 200 M but unable to hold off the top pair close to home.
4 11 KNIGHT TEMPLAR (CC021) G Schofield P Pressed forward early stages. Took the lead at 1100 M and held it until entering home turn. 1/2L down into home straight. Kept on well but unable to draw closer final stages.
5 5 RED BARON (CC220) C Williams B/TT Away awkwardly. Niggled along and caught very wide 1st turn. 3-wide at midfield 1000 M, rolled forward from 900 M and took the lead at 600 M. Under pressure home turn and took a 1L lead into the straight. Kept on well to line.
6 4 JUBILOSO (CD381) B Prebble -- Trailed field in the early stages. Made a bit of ground after 1000 M and pressured rounding home turn. Quickened on straightening and closed the race off well.
7 8 ALAKAZAM (CC061) Y T Cheng B/TT Missed the kick and was hard ridden forward to race behind midfield. Improved steadily after 800 M and reached within 4Ls of the pace at 400 M. Kept on but unable to gain much ground in the straight.
8 2 ELFHELM (CC342) A Delpech B Raced in a forward position early. Settled 2-wide and 2Ls behind the lead in back straight. Lost a bit of ground at home turn and was one-paced in the straight.
9 1 HAPPY TOGETHER (CC218) D Dunn TT Jumped to an early lead. Settled behind the pace after 1100 M and remained 2Ls behind the leader back straight. Stayed prominent rounding home turn but weakened shortly after straightening. (Mucus.)
10 9 SUNNY DESERT (CB346) A Starke -- Didn't break well and soon raced near the rear. Trailed field from 800 M out until straightening. Closed the race off well but was disappointed for running 200 M out.
11 10 BEST EVER (CB050) S Dye SR Best out and was held back to race 3-wide in rear section. Hung out wide making home turn and was last to enter home straight. Only ran past a beaten runner.
12 3 OUT OF MY WAY (CC374) W Woods B Settled on fence at midfield. Shuffled back briefly at the rock and was niggled along the home turn. Ran home without quickening.
