4 6 OPERA MAGIC (CB404) E Saint-Martin B Settled wide at midfield. Steadily made progress around the home turn to be within a length of the leader on straightening. Kept on well and hit the lead briefly at 200 M. Unable to hold off charging rivals thereafter.

6 11 DEVON FLAIR (CD240) C Williams -- Strode steadily into a forward position behind the leaders early stages. Settled 3 to 4Ls behind the pace in 3rd place after 800 M and was in a prominent position on straightening. Kept on same pace to line.
7 12 CHEERFUL BOY (CD232) G Schofield B Settled on fence at midfield. Held up in early part of the straight. Then closed the race off only fairly.
8 14 SURE FORTUNE (CC033) C K Tong B/TT Slow out of the gates and raced towards the rear until straightening. Made up some ground over the concluding stages.
9 3 ACCOLADE (CD121) D Holland -- In rear section early and then trailed field after checking at 1000 M. Remained near the rear rounding home turn. Recovered some ground in the straight.
10 9 FAVOURITE RETURN (CE104) H W Lai -- Pushed along from the widest draw and kept alongside the leader until the final 300 M. Weakened thereafter.
11 1 TABBRIS (CB088) G Mosse V/TT2 Jumped well and steadily improved into the lead after 1200 M. Always maintained a slight advantage before being swamped inside final 300 M.
12 2 EXULTATION (BV223) K M Chin SR- Slowly away and was ridden along in rear section early stages. Crowded at 800 M and remained in rear section rounding home turn. Failed to quicken in the straight.
13 10 WINNING PARADE (CA283) C Soumillon B/TT Ridden out of the gates from a wide draw and had the early lead. Took a sit after 1200 M and settled 4Ls behind the pace. Pushed along to keep pace 600 M and weakened shortly after straightening. (Lame.)
