2 14 SPEED OF LIGHT (CC333) G Schofield TT Midfield or better on inner. Near the 800 M was checked when crowded for room. Unable to see clear daylight in early part of straight, ran on quite well inside final 200 M to grab 2nd near finish.
3 5 TRIUMPH (CC214) D Whyte V2 Began well and niggled along to race in better than midfield around 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out and responded fairly but was overhauled by 2nd placegetter near the line.
4 12 DEVON FLAIR (CD240) W M Lai P-/B1 Jumped with field and soon raced in a prominent position on rail through to straight. Ran on fairly when asked 400 M out and just failed to run into the placings.
5 7 BRAVE COMMANDER (CC322) C K Tong B2 Began well from wide draw and hard ridden along to take lead on rail with no more than 1L advantage to straight. Plugged on gamely but was headed near 200 M and became one pace thereafter.
6 2 DESERT STORM (CA048) R Fradd TT Tardy start and soon settled at the rear on rail. Near the 1300 M was checked to avoid fallen runner. Made little headway at home turn, all at 300 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M but without threatening.
7 3 CARRY THE MAGIC (CE069) B Prebble -- Jumped fairly and soon settled in midfield or worse around 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but failed to quicken and only kept on same pace to the line.
8 11 STAR OF NORTHERN (CD173) P H Lo V/TT Slow to begin and hard ridden along in early stages to race in midfield or better 3 wide without cover to straight. Kept on same pace to the line when asked 400 M out.
9 13 SPARKLE (CB406) H W Lai V Jumped fairly and pushed along to race in midfield on rail. Near the 1300 M was inconvenienced by fallen runner and dropped to a rearward position. Kept on evenly when asked 400 M and only ran past beaten runners.
10 9 ACCLAMATION (CB045) O Chavez P From a wide draw was soon eased to the rear section but closer to the rail. Near the 700 M whilst racing keenly was checked away from heels. Stayed one-pace in straight and further weakened inside final 200 M.
11 1 FANTASTIC STAR (CC294) M Rodd TT Slowly away from wide gate and raced towards the rear. Near the 1300 M was inconvenienced by fallen runner. Failed to make any impression in straight.
12 4 LIVERBIRD (CE055) S Dye CP Broke fairly from widest and niggled along to race in a forward position out wide. Near the 1000 M went forward to race outside the leader. Near the 600 M commenced to give ground and steadily faded in straight.
13 8 OPERATION HUMOUR (BV111) Y T Cheng CP Jumped awkwardly and pushed along to race in a rearward position. Near the 1300 M was inconvenienced by fallen runner. Failed to show any running in home straight.
FE 10 JUST TOO GOOD (CB150) C Brown V Jumped fairly and soon raced in midfield around 2 wide. After the 1400 M was crowded for room and fell.
