2 5 PERFECT ATHLETE (CG276) C W Wong -- Blundered at the start, had to be rushed up to hold a prominent position early, negotiated the turn well enough, showed battling qualities to outrun the rival on his outside but was caught by the eventual winner close home.
3 11 SUPER RED (CG230) M Chadwick CP/XB/TT Quickly into stride, took up running but was unable to cross to the fence, ridden 300 M out, had a long duel with the eventual 2nd down the straight but both were nailed down by the fast-finishing winner on the line.
4 7 ABLE STANDARD (CG043) Z Purton TT Broke well, guided to a midfield position along the rail 3Ls back, gradually peeled out in search of running space on turning, made up plenty of ground inside 300 M to be nearest on the line.

6 10 MAINLAND MASTER (CG044) J Victoire -- Bounded in the air on jumping, showed customary early speed to track leaders in a handy position, ready to strike turning in, unable to find another gear under pressure and kept on only one paced.
7 8 NEWSWIRE TOO (CJ040) B Prebble CP Away with them, restrained to settle near the rear trailing 6Ls to leader, had plenty to do coming off the bend, ran on fairly down the outside but no threat overall.

10 3 HOT SUN (CJ005) P H Lo -- Standard jump, hard driven early to be right there with the leaders but was forced wide without cover, under pressure on top of the straight and gave ground from 300 M.
11 6 MR FLOODLIGHT (CG257) K C Leung B Began in line, assumed a midfield spot 3 to 4Ls off the pace, didn't negotiate the turn smoothly, soon out of contention on straightening, dropped out inside 200 M.
