2 1 GALLANT CHAMPION (CJ002) K L Chui TT Standard jump, ended up 6Ls or so away behind midfield, had an easy time to bend, worked into clear turning and finished well despite no match for winner.
3 14 SAPELLI (CK191) D Whyte -- Out in line, unable to get nearer than 3 wide from difficult alley, 4Ls back without cover throughout, did plenty to bend but didn't give in and kept working right to line.
4 3 GOOD GAINS (CJ293) O Doleuze -- OK to begin, slotted in to midfield spot 5Ls off pace, difficult to settle throughout, still amongst horses on turning but worked home evenly when clear.
5 2 JOHNSON (CJ305) K C Leung B Jumped nicely, went forward to end up first without cover in running line, had a fair run 1 to 2Ls clear on bend, couldn't match dash of winner but stayed on OK late.
6 11 ROYAL PUMPKIN (CJ341) B Prebble PC No early pace, got well bck from a wide gate, raced 3 wide near enough to tail, best part of 8Ls away throughout and still well down to bend, made some good late headway. (See racing incidents.)
7 9 BEST POWER (CG006) H W Lai TT Only fair to break, settled down 3 wide behind midfield 6Ls back with trail, did some work covering extra ground to bend, didn't close but just stayed on.
8 5 WINNING FELLOWSHIP (CG146) J Victoire CP Steadied early, 9 to 10Ls back on rails, used little throughout, well back to bend, pursued inside runs and in traffic to 250 M, closed nicely when clear.
9 6 CHATER D'CAT (CK119) J Lloyd TT No early pace and dropped well back for a wide gate, best part of 10Ls away 3 wide at rear, set plenty to do well back to bend, only got passed tired runners.
10 10 MY GOAL (CJ131) Y T Cheng CP Fastest out, led easily but took trail before first turn, had reasonable trip despite solid section, came under pressure on turning, lacked usual close and folded tamely.
11 4 SOUTH BREEZE (CG241) Z Purton TT Drifted back soon after start, raced 10Ls or more away at tail, rearward throughout, limited response in finish.
12 12 VICTORY TREASURE (CE031) C K Tong -- Out nicely, travelled behind pace trio 3Ls away on rails, had an even trip to bend, didn't find much and weakened out easily.
13 8 YOUNG HERO (CH071) M L Yeung CP Began well enough, settled behind speed 3Ls back, had a fair run to turn, soon struggling and didn't run on in straight.
14 7 THE GOODIES (CH097) J Winks B/H Ordinary jump, mustered to be in midfield 4Ls off pace, enjoyed an easy time to turn, didn't close off and just plugged on in straight.
